I am not hungry at all. In fact I have to force myself to eat three times a day and after only about 8-10 bites of food I feel nauseous. I'm trying to make those bites count with my veggies, meat, and fat. Will this pass or does it usually continue? Hopefully it will work to my advantage! I really did eat way to much at a time, and I have LOTS of weight to lose. But I'm working hard to eat every six hours so my metabolism doesn't slow down. Also another question I know you are not supposed to have a multivitamin w/ iron. What is the reason? Is it because you get so much iron from meat? Just curious!

Re: Does anyone else have this problem?
It will pass.
Severely undereating for long periods of time doesn't work to your advantage... it slows down your metabolism, making weight loss more difficult in the long term.
Your metabolism won't slow down if you don't eat every 6 hours. There is, however, the risk of experiencing low blood sugar and eating the wrong foods (or too much of the right foods) by going long periods of time without eating.I'm working hard to eat every six hours so my metabolism doesn't slow down.
Dr. Atkins assumed we will be getting enough iron from the foods we eat.I know you are not supposed to have a multivitamin w/ iron. What is the reason? Is it because you get so much iron from meat?
Too much iron is not healthy.
If you think you need extra iron, you should discuss this with your physician."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Does anyone else have this problem?
I am not under eating. Thats what I meant when I said I am working very hard to get what I need. Maybe I should have added that in addition to the 3 meals I do make myself have a snack so I'm not deficient in calories. So I don't know why you would say to me that "severe undereating will not help me in the long run". When I only wrote on here to ask if this will pass. I'm not trying to reduce my calories to an unhealthy point. I am only trying to lose some weight and be healthy while doing it. And look on here for encouraging words. And yes your metobolism does slow down if you go long periods without eating because the body thinks that it is not getting enough so it slows down. And the book says to eat at least every six hours, during the day of course. I don't mean through the night also. I get plenty of iron, I was just curious why no multivitamin w/ iron. But yes I know especially with kids you have to be careful that they don't get too much iron becuase you could overdose them on it. My 3 year old doesn't understand why he only gets one Flintstone a day! lol

I wasn't disagreeing with what the book says. And the book says to eat at least every six hours, during the day of course.
However, the reason for eating every 6 hours is not to prevent slowing down your metabolism... which is what you wrote in your post. The book doesn't say this.
It was only a precautionary remark. So I don't know why you would say to me that "severe undereating will not help me in the long run"."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

Re: Does anyone else have this problem?
It will pass! I went thru that also even made a post about it...but I think georgiana was just telling you what would happen if you under eat because I did that...I was not hungry so why eat right? I was wrong but yes it will pass. The crazy thing is that you usually don't have this "problem" anywhere else, usually you are way too hungry, which is why atkins rocksOriginally posted by callog View PostI am not under eating. Re: Does anyone else have this problem?
Thanks! but I actually started in late november then cheated in december december but went pretty strong after that and added the gym. maybe I should post that photo instead lol lame hair and all so I actually lost the 50 lbs in 3 months or so. I go to the gym and I do an hour at the treadmill and then half hour at the eliptical and the other half hour working on my arms and abs with the other machines. Plus I try not to cheat..fallen of the wagon a couple of times but gotta get back on it right away and not dwell on it.Originally posted by callog View PostSummerdressgirl, it took you 8 months to lose the 60 lbs.? Thats great!! Did you do a lot of walking or like an eliptical to help?
I am going to post my december photos instead of july.highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs

Re: Does anyone else have this problem?
well it was a process I did 5 minutes every day and then when I started to notice my tongue was not on my knees after minutes I added 2 minutes more and so on until I made it to 30..I have seen people there who stay for 45 - 1 hour and they get out of there as red as a tomato..but I do the elliptical after my hour in the treadmill..instead of cooling down I just jump there while my muscles are still warm and going. just do it a few minutes at a timeOriginally posted by callog View PostWOW! Thats great! I can't even do 8 minutes on the elliptical before I think I'm dying!

Re: Does anyone else have this problem?
ellipticals are hard! what i do is set it on the max resistance and go for 10 mins and about 3-4 times out of the 10 mins i go as fast as i can for 20-30 seconds
if you can keep it up and do it atleast once every week and a half the results are amazing it completely drains the glucose in your legs and now my legs can hold so much more glucose but.... it pushes your body soo hard that you will never want to go on an elliptical again its been months since i last used it because i keep dreading that routine so really unless you have a will of steel don't even try this glucose burning method because it may make you never want to use a elliptical again
also note this only works on the newer ellipticals thats movement runs smoothly like a bike so its possible to go really fastLast edited by ziggy; March 29, 2010, 04:08 PM.
