Does anyone know why cheese stalls some people? Is it the carbs or something else?

I'm looking for potential culprits and it can only be the cheese!

    Thanks,

Two possibilities (well a couple more than that but here's the most common)

    1. Cheese is a calorie-dense food. 1 ounce of cheese has roughly 100 calories. If you aren't careful with your cheese measuring you can easily eat 500 or 600 calories worth of cheese in one day.

    2. The yeast theory: The yeast theory states that some of us are more sensitive to yeast and molds than others and this causes a multitude of things ranging from fatigue to skin problems to weight problems.

Most people don't know what an ounce of cheese looks like. Because it is so calorically dense....its easy to eat too much of it, and still think you didn't eat enough of it.

An ounce of cheese is 2 dice sized cubes. If you eat more than that...than you're going over on calories.

I gave up cheese, and now eat it VERY sparingly and it helped get the scale moving again. I knew what an ounce looked like....but I'm one of those people who would rather have nothing than a little of something.

So be honest with your servings. Keep a journal of everything you eat. If you eat 4 dice sized cubes...thats almost 240 calories right there. (I know most people don't worry with calories on Atkins...but calories do still count in the grand scheme of things).

Also be sure to measure your shredded. I believe a 1/4 cup is a serving.

And always count 1 oz of cheese as 1 carb, regardless of the package saying its 0 carbs. Nothing but pure meat, fats such as butter and oils and water has 0 carbs.

I've been thinking alot about the whole cheese issue too, and I've decided to give it up starting today. I think it could be one of those things that holds me back as well. However, this week I did eat some every day and lost 4 lbs (restarted induction this week). We'll see what happens next week when I eliminate it from the diet entirely. I will miss my cream cheese in my omletes though :sadblinky

Cheese stalled me at 160lbs for the past two months. Since cutting it out 2 weeks ago, the scale has begun moving again and I have lost 10lbs. Amazing. Now that is not to say I will give it up entirely forever (I don't think I could live without cheese), but for the time being, or at least until I reach my goal, I plan to severely limit my cheese intake.
