    Re: Sure need some encouragement...

I personally think you should tell people that are around you what lifestyle you have chosen, especially if you find it hard to fight temptation.

For example, I brought in berries the other day at work and my co-workers (who all know I am doing Atkins) asked me if I was allowed to eat them. I said "yes, I have worked up to that level."

Although my coworkers just think Atkins is meat cheese and eggs, they still keep me in check even after trying to tempt me with non Atkins friendly foods like bagels and cookies.

I simply think when they inhale their carby food, they will get fatter and I won't.

I had my daughter Jan 2008 and weighed in at 160lbs in Jan 2009. I went on my Atkins then and then f'd up in mid 2009. In Jan this year when I gained 7 lbs back of what I had lost previously I got fed up and started again. Now I am 2 months in and below my lowest weight from last year.

My point is that I have learned to be confident in myself and my choices. I am still struggling with the demons in eating in public and at restaurants. But I love how I feel now and I don't ever want to be 160 lbs again.

You did great getting off the first 10 lbs. Just get back into the induction and tell your mom your serious. You will feed off each other and your weaknesses. Be the strong one, she will see your example and follow suit.

Best Wishes and I hope to see your numbers keep dropping.

I have been following the plan since 10/01. I have not cheated once. I may have over veggied t a couple of times but I have not eaten any sugars or illegal carbs at all.

I really just had to tell myself that I know how to eat, I just need to do it. I have no excuse to keep on it, I just am because I can't think of one valid reason to stray.

I have no cravings at all, once you get to a certain point you realize(true for me anyway) that eating something just because everyone else is is really a childish thing to do.

Really I do believe most of us are adults, we really can control ourselves, we just make a decision somewhere along the way to follow the herd.

I agree with mutantmom. It helped me a lot to know the biochemistry of what's happening in my body to the food that I eat. Checking out lindas low carb website has also been helpful. Every weekend I find some new and easy recipies to fix and its hard to believe I'm even on a diet. I usually don't even miss bread - but I do avoid the bakery portion of the grocery store .

        started: 1/25/10
        1st goal (met 3/13/10): 157
        2nd goal: 147
        3rd goal: 140

Thanks all for the great advice! It's extremely helpful. I've gotten back in the groove and have found another buddy here and we're going to be doing weigh-ins and such. I'm really excited. I'm also going to be starting up a walking indoors program. Between those two things and this site I know I'll stay motivated.

          Thanks everyone..so so much!
