I'm in week 7 & on OWL rung 1. I've never even considered cheating until now. Thursday will mark my 15th wedding anniversary. Would it be to horrible for me to have a glass of wine with dinner? We've already decided to do an Atkins friendly meal but I think 15 years is quite a milestone and I'd like to celebrate. I'm not a drinker on or off Atkins but I think this is a special occasion and I'm talking a glass not a bottle. Will it blow any progress I make this week? My progress has been very slow so mabey I should expect it?

It may have no effect, or it may throw you off for a week, or it may lead you down the path to successive cheats and excessive weight gain. Since there's no way to tell beforehand how the alcohol will affect you, you need to assume the worst-case scenario and then decide if those are consequences you can live with. It's up to you.

Re: Should I or shouldn't I...
I'm not a drinker either, but had have an occasional glass of wine on special occasions, regretfully. Because I'm not a drinker, the alcohol really affects me. Alcohol can cause you to loosen your resolve and give into temptation for dessert and other foods. It has been known to cause major cheat binges. First the wine, then dessert, then something else that looks good on the menu......and so on........It's a slippery slope. I wouldn't tempt yourself after just 7 weekson this WOL....JMHO

Re: Should I or shouldn't I...
I just celebrated 17 years with my dh and we toasted it with mineral water, neither of us are drinkers, I don't associate alcohol with celebrating. Good luck, I would skip the alcohol for all the reasons mentioned, but we all have to make our own decisions.

No, it wouldn't be "horrible".
However, since you haven't had anything to drink, the effect of a glass may make you wish you hadn't.
Here's the deal ... you're an adult ... so YOU get to decide whether a glass of wine is what you need to celebrate your anniversary.

Re: Should I or shouldn't I...
If you do indulge in some wine, make sure you also drink extra water to avoid dehydration.
And whatever you do decide to do (we drink sparkling water with ice/lemon as a celebration drink
) have a lovely time as you celebrate 15 years together and look forward to many more

Re: Should I or shouldn't I...
I appreciate all the wonderful responses & words of caution. We will not be dining out but cooking our dinner together. Since we are both on plan, there are no forbidden foods in the house so no worries about dessert. I'm still up in the air but I liked the idea for sparkling water with ice & lemon. Once again, thanks to everyone. I'm so glad I found this board. It helps to keep me going when I feel like I can't. However, today is not one of those days.sigpicurl=http://www.TickerFactory.com/weight-loss/wpYIUHE/]

Re: Should I or shouldn't I...
I think you should celebrate with a glass of wine. The alcohol will probably get you buzzed very quickly and all you will need is one. Drink it closer to the end of your meal so you'll have more in your stomach at the time you enjoy it.
