Where to find Hood Calorie Countdown milk

Does anyone know where to buy Hood Calorie countdown milk in San Antonio, or Ausin, Texas? I miss this milk. I could buy it when I lived in Florida, but I've yet to see it in Texas. Anyone???

I do see that HEB grocery store carries a low carb milk called Mootopia, it's not quite as low in carbs as the Hood brand.......but, if I can't find Hood, I guess it will do. It has 6 net carbs per cup..... I will have to use it sparingly....Calorie countdown has just 3 net carbs per cup.

Sorry that I can't help you find it, but just fyi, milk isn't allowed on Induction. You can add it back in OWL Rung 2.

....I thought about putting the disclaimer in that I wasn't going to use it until I got to that rung.........but, yes, I'm waiting, I'm just planning ahead and was hoping to find it.

Hood is a local company here so it's available everywhere. You could contact Hood and ask where it is sold in your area.

Although Hood Calorie Countdown is low in carbs I find it very flat tasting. I prefer Valio...it is higher in carbs (7g/cup) but the flavor and mouth feel is wonderful and it is not sweet tasting because it is lactose free. I have a smaller glass to keep it at 5g net carbs but I think it's worth the smaller portion because of the taste.

Both companies have online coupons that you can print out too.

The Mootopia actually sounds better than both of these products as its formulation makes the 2% version taste more like whole milk. It is also lactose free meaning it is also lower in sugars. Personally, if you can't find Calorie Countdown, I would definitely give Mootopia a try.

Remember that the old days of drinking several large glasses of milk a day are over. Just too many carbs. I really missed that when I started Atkins but now I am satisfied with an occasional small glass...it's like a treat.

Great information! I had not heard of Valio before. Where is that sold? Did you Google HEB Mootopia, or have you tried it? It is very good. I had bought it several times before returning to this WOL (as well as searching for Hood). The reason being is that after several years on this WOL, I lost my taste for regular milk...yuck, but love low carb milk.....LOL....and it works great in whey protein shakes (again rung 2 ).

I did ask HEB (the only show in town besides Super WM) if they could bring it in. But, they do not carry Hood products and can't/won't do it. Walmart was a deadend as well. I was hoping that maybe there was a small mom and pop speciality store here that carries it.

But, yea, Mootopia is good. But hood has less carbs.... I guess if I don't find Hood, I should be grateful that I have HEB Mootopia.

....I just called Hood....they said that Walmart was their big distributor of Hood in Texas, and since they pulled the product, Hood has been getting a ton of calls from Texas, and other states with customers looking for it....so, I am going to keep bugging the dairy manager at Walmart. But, it loooks like it's Mootopia for me.......

I haven't seen Mootopia around here. It might be at Walmart though...I will look for it there next time I go. (I don't go to Walmart that often as it is about 100 miles away!)

I Binged Mootopia...cute website they have. According to them you will have very shiny hair after drinking Mootopia.

You can check Valio's product locator to see if it's available in your area. There is a coupon if you find in locally and want to try it.

That Mottopia ad was cute....but, I'm not sure it's the HEB milk...it sounds more like a dairy got milk kind of promotion.

I did find a huge description of it from a google searh. It's from another low carb forum. The poster says it's real milk. I know that Hood is actually a milk drink (not real). And it only has 4 grams of carbs!!!!!!! I was wrong when I said 6....oh happy day!!! And, it tastes really good! I don't need to look for Hood anymore!!!

I read this over on LCF...it is a recipe for homemade low carb milk similar to Calorie Countdown. It tastes very good (better than the CC IMO), is cheap to make and has 3g carb/cup.

p.s. I posted the link to the thread rather than just posting the recipe as it has a zillion other ideas in it.

I'm glad you found something. I've never seen Mootopia. I used to buy Carb Countdown at walmart years ago. When I came back to LC, I was disappointed that they didn't have it anymore. One day I was in a different grocery store than I normally go to and I happened to see it. I was giddy. lol I have a friend that is new to LC and she loves chocolate milk. I took a picture of the chocolate one and sent it to her. lol

I'm wild about Hood's Calorie Countdown Chocolate milk and I'm lucky that my Super WalMarts here in Fort Worth still carry it. The link Mizski posted for homemade milk is great, too. I started making my own milk to use in my protein shakes and cooking. It works well. It's worth a try.
