Unfortunately, from the first "cherry picked" phrase, you have been mincing words. I'm not exactly sure what the goal is, but it isn't working.

Actually, the OWL and Maintenance programs increase net carbs in increments until such time as weight loss and or lypolisis ceases. At that point, the individual should decrease carb intake to get back into lypolisis.

What does that say, in a nut shell, if you are burning more calories because of your activity level, that threshold will be higher than for someone of a less active lifestyle. Hence, your total carb intake is driven by the amount of carbs you can burn and still burn fat.

      Soldier,

      Good luck with the program.

forbey atkinsers even those doing intense lifting will NEVER get their carbs high enought to be considered matching their workout intensity. it is a lucky atkins follower who can eat more then 100 net grams. Dr Atkins in DANDR chapter 14 charts on estimated CCLLs estimates that those doing vigorous exercise will reach that stoppage point your wrote about between 60-90 grams a day.

If you believe that 60-90 net grams a day of carbs is matching workout intensity then you have a very different concept of carb intake to match intensity then I do.

It is odd, you are being amazingly argumentative (in more than one thread.)

Unfortunately, you are missing the entire point. As one moves through Atkins Induction, into OWL. to Pre-maintenance and finally to Maintenance, there is a process, by which a person's max amount of carbohydrate consumption is calculated, then backed off so that the individual continues to reach lypolisis. Whether that level of carbs is 30, 50, 90 or 200 is irrelevant. What carbs you take in WILL be burned as energy, then the body will resort to burning fat. It will be a reoccuring activity, every day of your life. Regardless of what that number is, the likelyhood is that the more active individual will have a higher number of "tolerated" carbs than the sedentary individual.

            Re: Atkins and weight lifting

I didn't miss the point in DANDR that increasing our activity level will allow us to consume more carbs as we lose weight and during maintnenace as I witnessed this myself.
However there are many folk who workout very intensely and do not cheat on their atkins who are not able to increase their carbs as much as you are leading folk to believe will happen with your statements about carb intake matching exercise intensity. Have you read Dr Atkins Book Atkins for life or checked the CCLL of many folk who are members of ADBB and workout? I can name only 3 members who have CCLLs over 100 and all 3 do more then 2 hours in the gym daily.

Soldier, check on the book "Men's Health TNT Diet"

It uses Dr. Volek's Low Carb research in a body building setting. The intro indicates it is doable for beginners and up. Volek, had been in contact with Dr. Atkins before he passed and has been given large grants by the Atkins Foundation to research our WOE.
