  • Cravings!!!

    Today is day 16 and I am craving sugar!!! I have been so irritable/ anxious the past few days. My friend told me the first week would be the hardest, but these past few days I have had to be super strong to keep from cheating. I have been snapping at my husband... I even snapped at my co-workers (which is sooo not like me). I have tried to go for a walk, draw, write... nothing gets rid of this craving and irritability. Any ideas?

    Ok I tried this once after reading about it on the board. Sometimes our bodies are craving something but what we think it needs or wants isn't actually true. Like your craving sweet. Well try eating a dill pickle or some pork rinds(not a lot). Or some chicken salad. It's crazy how you might need some protein or salt. Also, I know there are some great recipes for the sweet tooth but in my experience if I am already craving sweet which I don't often....it just makes it worse. Starve something it gets weaker, feed it it gets stronger. So anyway try eating something completely opposite.
    I pray it works for you. Don't give up and always.....drink your water.....LOL

      Time of Month?
      I know personally that is when things get to me. I usually have to find something that works. A little bit of cream, sweetened with splenda is a good one for me.

        Dill pickles work great for those times. Of course then you could get pickle cravings instead. I had to quit buying the kind of pickles I like because I started NEEDING pickles all the time. Hormones will do you in if you let em LOL

          Well... I'm just getting over "that time of the month"... maybe that's it!! I didn't even associate my irritability or anxiety with that!!! Now I feel like a big, fat, dumb dork!! HA!! I just automatically assumed the irritability and cravings were because of the new WOE. Go figure!! I'm definitely getting pickles TODAY!!! Thanks guys!!

            Check the foods you are eating....are you getting hidden sugars in anything? Are you drinking something that is sweetened (sodas, flavored drinks)? When you get a craving of any type try drinking a glass of cold water, that's what helps me the most - sometimes you may feel you need something when you actually need hydration. Good luck!

              I read somewhere that it is something to do with a particular part of the brain that says 'I am peckish' being situated close to the one that says 'I am thirsty' !
