  • Got "stuck"

    Hi everyone,
Today is day 22 for me, and I have lost 12 pounds. For 6 of the days (day 15 thru 20) I was stuck, having lost 10 pounds at that point. I have lost 2 pounds over the past 2 days (stepped up the bacon, burgers and steak & increased water intake).
I am afraid to move on from the induction stage! I don't think I have ever felt as discouraged as I did when I was stuck & want to avoid going through that again!! It was depressing and my whole attitude and mood was awful.
Can I do induction for at least another week? Is there a down side?

I felt the exact same way as you!!!
I didn't want to increase more carbs...but guess what?!?! When I did, I lost more weight! Well actually I should say inches! My scale hasn't really budged in 3 weeks, but I have lost an incredible amount of inches all over my body!!
Try it out, and I promise your body will thank you

    First goal met 10lbs down

Probably stepping up the Induction vegetables would work better.

Yes ... you don't lose because you've overstayed your welcome on Induction. Then you get more afraid to move on ... so you stay in Induction longer thinking that Atkins is failing you. Then you move on to another diet.

        Re: Got "stuck"

It is very normal to see that pause. We call it PISS (post induction stall syndrome) It happened to me and almost every body here. You have to try to think long term. We are not going to lose every day on Atkins. But we eat healthy and take care of ourselves in a good way.
glad the scale is moving again. It is possible you were eating too little. That usually does not help.
Veggies usually help us feel better and many lose better. The body tend to like nutrients.

I would also suggest exercise (if you are not doing that yet)

We have some challenges about to start

        Exercise Challenges
Push-ups (April Push Ups - Spring into Spring!) - best over all exercise
Lunges (Perfect bikini butt? - sign up for APRIL LUNGES here)- glutes and thighs
Strength (April Strength Challenge: Pledge minutes)- Lift, stretch and improve body shape and metabolism

Ongoing challenges you can jump on to
The President Challenge (The adbb presidents challenge is alive) - I love it. But avoid aliens
Flights (PLEDGING FLIGHTS *** A Stair Climb Challenge) - great place to challenge yourself

          Re: Got "stuck"

If you were depressed with an awful mood on the days you didn't lose, you are going to have a lot of those types of days in the future. You don't lose every day on Atkins... Sometimes I go 10 days without losing an ounce, but I stay the course, because I know my body is working hard on getting to the next level where I will start losing again.

The main thing that convinces me that Atkins is working when I'm not losing is that when I go OFF Atkins I immediately start to gain... that tells me that when I'm not losing, Atkins is preventing me from gaining... and for that I'm most appreciative.

Be happy when you don't gain, be thrilled when you lose, but most of all don't be depressed... you are on the best diet available... and it is working, if you give it a chance...

I am pretty new to Atkins but I know when you stress, that can hinder weight loss as well.
