  • Liquid Sweet 'n' Low in Toronto?

    Hi all,

As posted in the thread for Canadians:

Can anyone point to a Toronto source for this? Used to be able to find it in a lot of places.

I should clarify before being asked: this is for my mother, not me. She is not on Atkins (and thus limited to Splenda) but has been trouble finding this old standby. I'm asking here because there is better than average knowledge about artificial sweeteners on this site.

Liquid Sugar Twin would be an all right substitute.

    Thanks,

    Catherine

    I don't know sorry
In Canada sweet and low is sodium cyclamate and would be perfectly fine on Atkins (So would the US version which is saccarin)

Does you mom like Sugar Twin? It is also made from sodium cyclamate and should be around the same thing. It is widely available in liquid form.

      Thanks for your reply, Liv!

I haven't seen either of the liquids around a few grocery stores and drugstores. I don't know what's happened to them... I know they've fallen out of fashion, so that might be the difficulty. Haven't tried Loblaws yet (none convenient) so I'll give that a try next.

I'm encouraged about the cyclamate being allowed on Atkins. Once out of Induction I'll see about incorporating it... it's great from a carb perspective, but for Induction I'm trying to eliminate anything except my few servings of Splenda so that I can help tame my sugar craving monster within.

If I had my way I would (and have, in a previous life) dump sugar or sweetener onto everything! Meat, vegetables included. It's a sickness.

The struggle for me so far has been diet coke elimination. Typically I'd consume 6-8 litres a day (!) and now have gone cold turkey, with club soda instead. My sweetener servings I reserve for an enormous mug of coffee in the morning.

      Thanks again for your help.

I bought my Sugar Twin at Super Store - which is our version of Loblaws out here in the west.

It is a good idea to work on that sweetener things. We all have our issues I think. That is why we are here (mine was snacking - snacking - snacking)

            Thanks for your help!

Found it (liquid Sweet 'n' Low) in a dingy convenience store. It was marked up, of course, but I was thrilled. Happy Easter, mommy! Ha!
