  • Easter happens... So what?

I had a piece of cake and a cup of coca cola yesterday.

Today I am back on the ride path, and I am totally feeling fine and looking forward to loosing more weight.

I see so many people acting like their mother died or something when they fell off the 'wagon' and had something sweet on Easter.

You aren't alone, we all have been there.

It happens, then you move on.

While I do understand what you are saying, to me, It's the same as an alcoholic having a drink on New Years. I "relapsed" and am ashamed of myself for doing it. Glad you aren't beating yourself up over it and are "back on the wagon" as well!!!

Yeah, I overindulged....I think I must have had a week's worth of veggies w/ ranch. But I am proud that I stayed true and ate all legal foods. Didn't touch on grain or rice or slice of cake (had my OWN huge piece of pumpkin pie @ home).

I agree you shouldn't wallow in guilt but I dont' think you should be flip about it either. Every cheat has consequences and if you really want to lose weight that shouldn't be taken lightly. Taking it lightly leads to more cheating and eventually getting run over by that wagon you fell off.

You have to find a balance.

              Hi!

I couldn't agree more! First of all, is chocolate on ANY BODY'S diet? Helk No! So, it really doesn't matter if you had sweets or not! Just, as Trollface said, move on!

At my house, my best friend (who lives with us - don't ask) made a turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans and her son made strawberries soaked in sugar with shortcake.

I had turkey, had the "LOADED" cauliflower (Linda's Low Carb Menus & Recipes), some green beans and for dessert, my homemade chocolate mousse.

Everyone was eyeballing my cauliflower - and I was called 'selfish' cuz I wouldn't share any of my mousse! It was goooooooood!

              Well, that's my two-cents! Tootles!!

I presume, trollface, that you've never been through this particular life event? If you had been, you would not be so cavalier in your comments about what it might compare to.

For this comment alone, you should be ashamed of yourself.

Your cheat didn't just "happen". You DECIDED to cheat. It was no accident.

                        So what?
So it's okay if you cheat again?

So you won't bother figuring out why you cheated?

I find this comment to be in very poor taste. And with the ROFL smilie at the end? I fail to see the humor.

FWIW, I DID lose both my parents, FIL, SIL and 3 friends in the course of a year. It was not a good time for me and I re-gained 60 pounds plus an additional 20. I've finally lost those 80#s...I would have been at goal had I not strayed from my diet plan.

What's done is done. I'm posting this because sometimes going off plan is not just a one day blip.

Mizski, I agree 100% with you about that comment. In fact I started to reply twice that day, and then stopped because I was so angry I would have regretted most of what I wanted to say that day.

Of course, we need to laugh (when appropriate), in fact I say that often. Not to take ourselves too seriously and enjoy the ride....

...But I also felt that the comment and the laughing smilie was VERY insensitive. Maybe the OP meant no harm, but a better choice of words would have been wiser.
There are many people here on the ADBB who have lost loved ones very recently, myself included. (My Dad's funeral was the Saturday after Thanksgiving this past year)

And about the addiction to carbs part. Falling of the carb wagon CAN be just as serious to a carb addict as a drug addict, or an alcoholic. It could derail someone for weeks, months, or even years.

If it is easy for the OP to go off and on, good for him. But again, a little more sensitivity.

I do not think you can equate anything to the feelings of losing a mother... I still can not get over it...I just think that if you cheat.. you have to forgive yourself and get right back on the Atkins train.. or else your stuck with guilt and then you never get back to losing weight...
