      Re: Emotional Rollercoaster...A Wreck...

I spent years putting off dealing with my weight because I figured I was too far gone to do anything about it. I just finally thought to myself one day, "if not now, when." Now is the best time that you will ever have to start changing your life. It is a serious commitment, but the rewards far outweigh the work that you will put in. There are little things along the way that keep you moving forward. Having a friend you haven't seen in a while notice that you've lost weight. Buying new clothes in smaller sizes and actually liking how they look on you. Seeing a group picture and actually feeling like part of the group for once. These are some of the things that have kept me motivated. It's been a little over 13 months for me, and I've never felt better in my entire life. If you work hard and stay strong the months will fly by. You will see yourself start to change. And I promise, you will never regret starting this new way of life.

        Re: Emotional Rollercoaster...A Wreck...

The important things are that you have decided to do this and that you are here!
i think for each of us it is one day at a time, somedays, for me, it is one hour at a time, 1/2 day, an evening, one temptation at a time...sometimes i have to tell myself to stick with it till 12 noon or whatever time is not too far away (whether it's food choices, drinking water, or exercising) then go on from there, other days are a breeze...the results are cumulative, some people lose more quickly than others ( esp men seem to lose very quickly) but i think for most of us we lose at our own pace, which may be steady or sporadic.

Definately consider exercise even if you have to start out slowly and in addition to weighing yourself initially, measure your waist, hips, arms, legs, chest because sometimes the weight comes off in inches first and it can be frustrating for the scale 2 catch up ... but inches lost is also weight lost and it's esp gratifying if it means smaller sizes!

        Good Luck, keep checking in!
