  • Grilling

OooooOOooo, tonight I threw some chicken breasts on the grill and reignited my inner carnivore. YUM!

The only problem I had was the chicken sticking to the grill a bit. I've never been a huge grill person - just tossed hot dogs/brats and frozen burger patties on them. If I marinate these in some olive oil/spices, will that keep them from sticking? Or will that cause a fire?

What is your favorite Atkins-legal marinade?

      Re: Grilling

Sounds like your grill needs a good cleaning. Grills, if not cleaned properly, can build up a sticky residue over time making it a pain to cook on. While your grill is still warm, scrub it really good with the grill brush. Also, before you start grilling, try a non-stick cooking spray. Just spray it on the grill itself. This will keep your food from sticking which will make cooking a lot more enjoyable and the grill won't be so hard to clean afterward.

The non-stick cooking spray can come in really handy. As for marinade, I love using a dry red wine, light beer, Italian dressing (inspired by Cracker Barrel!), & even sugar-free pineapple syrup with Brown Sugar Twin are great with grilled chicken. Experiment!

I also would definitely recommend some olive oil! I love BBQ! It's the best! Enjoy

            Re: Grilling

PAM makes a grilling spray that's made for the high temps. A marinade with oil in it may help although sometimes the marinades cause the sticking.

If you really get into grilling they have special baskets or tray/wok things with holes in the bottom that are good for veggies and shrimp. The baskets are also good for grilling fish because fish is hard to flip on the grill.

Any kind of salad dressing vinaigrette (oil and vinegar types like Italian) makes a good quickie marinade.
