  • injury and weight increase :(

i tweaked my achilles about 3 weeks ago it didnt go completey but it is painfull when im on my feet for a while ,the thing is i was just seeming to be getting some where with my training my weight was going down more and my running was building up nicely ,the first week i stayed away from gym and karate completly hopeing id be ok after a weeks rest , first day back(week 2) instead of running i did 30 mins cross trainer and weights but wish i hadnt the cross trainer even hurt not at the time but afterwards i was limping again and i didnt do karate that week either ,ive had another 7 days of no gym al ive done is sme light walking with my leg strapped up ,tonight im gonna do a session of karate to see how things are (im not gonna push it ) and tomorrow and thursday im going back to the gym just not sure what to do at the gym really what i was doing was
mon: 3.5 mile run and weights
    tuesday: karate
wednesday: 3.5 mile run and few chest weights
    thursday: heavy weights session
    friday:karate
saturday:heavy weights session and small run

im open to all suggestions as to what i can do as so far my weight is climbing up i was 15 stone 8lb and already im at 16 stone 2 lb this morning its very frustrating just worried that this could send me right back to where i started , should i just do weights at gym or perhaps try the rower for my cv at moment (i thought the cross trainer would have been ok )

How are you doing foodwise Jake?

Not being able to exercise will not automatically mean gaining weight unless you are still eating as if you are exercising full on.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

your on rung 7 fruit and imo if your not doing exercise to burn the glucose stores in your muscles thus your muscles not soaking up the glucose from the fruit you eat because they are already full of glucose then your prob gonna gain weight

so what i would do is eat at rung 1 till you can start exercising again and or do a new run of rung tests and this one will test your CCL of your body thats doing less exercise

so if you could eat 60 net carbs and still lose weight with lots of exercise maybe your new CCL is only 35 net carbs with less exercise

your muscles are the largest glucose store in your body so if your not doing exercise it would make sense you would need to eat alot less carbs

ive been eating as i was so i better start to cut my food down perhaps cutting the fruit etc might be a good idea till i can get back to it , im gonna try the rower in the morning to see if that is ok for my cv it shouldnt effect my achilles hopefully

          Re: injury and weight increase

Do you have acess to a pool where you can swim? Otherwise I would just do upper body workouts and let that leg rest. I had problems with my knee last year but didn't want to give up running. Pushed it to the point I couldn't walk on it. It felt like the bones were slamming together behind my knee cap. Finally caved and went in for xrays only to find out I've lost almost all cartlidge in that side, what was left had softened and the bones were indeed hitting. Instead of a few weeks of rest to get the pain to subside I was in a brace for months. Will never be able to run on it again. Each time I try even a year later it's the same result.

So rest it, don't push it.

            Re: injury and weight increase

i tried swimming the other day but it was no good as ankles flop about when swimming and it ached quite a bit afterwards , gonna do upper body weights tomorrow and also try the rowing machine for, cardio but not long ill try 10 or 15 mins first just to see if its ok i really wanna keep doing cardio , not sure i even want to try running again , ive built it up and was even starting to enjoy it but id rather do something safer like cross trainer i think ,as i cant afford to be injured but atleast for the next couple of weeks im gonna take it easy fingers crossed it will heal soon and this will all be a distant memory

              Re: injury and weight increase

Try lying on your back and peddling in the air. If needed wrap your ankle to keep it from flopping. You might even be able to wear ankle weights to add some resistance to your legs.

I can't remember what the body buildr's name was, but in the 80s or 90s, one of the top contenders for Mr. Universe was hit by a car while riding his bicycle. Broke his back really bad. He was told he would never walk.

Using his knowledge of physiology and kinesiology, he build a workour routing to strengthen his back and his body. Not only did he walk, but he was able to compete again as a body builder (he had to use rediculously low weights high reps and high sets but he did it.)

Work till you figure out what works for you and the kick butt!

Hope you're back on that ankle soon!
