  • Did you know you're not allowed to eat vegetables?

THE NEW ATKINS: More user-friendly diet back and, this time, you can eat veggies | thestarpress.com | The Star Press

The new Atkins hopes to dispel the myth that veggies are a no-no. In fact, vegetables are incorporated into the diet on the very first day.

    Indeed?!

    Thank goodness for the media.

By the way, in case anyone missed the seething, dripping sarcasm, every Atkins iteration since the 70's has allowed for vegetables since the first day of the plan.

People really need to read the entire book.

        Sigh.

These people read the inside cover or back of the cover and then write whole articles and even had the nerve to "interview" people. Might I mention people who were just as informed as the article author....phbbbbttttttt.....unbelievable.

I seriously doubt they read any of it.

There are those who only go as far as Induction and run with it, problem being, even in Induction quality sources of vegetables low in net carbs have always been part of the plan. It was the same in 82 when I first tried Atkins.

That is, in part, why I don't get the newspaper. There isn't much in it I haven't heard on the radio hours earlier, and a large portion of what is new... IS WRONG!

That's not quite true. In the 1972 book, the first week was "biologically zero" level of carbohydrates. The vegetable allowed was a wedge of iceberg lettuce.

The other vegetables were added in later.

And the "phases" weren't named in 1972.
