new member: atikins and antidepressants

Hi everyone,

I've gained about 30 lbs over the past five years and seem unable to exercise it off; I attribute most of the weight to taking the antidepressant effexor, which unfortunately I need to be on for depression. I'm a bit freaked out, though, because I've heard that Atkins won't work if you're taking an antidepressant. Does anyone have information or experience with this?

Now, 158 lbs and hoping to get back down to 130 lbs. I followed Atkins about 7 years ago and it worked like a charm, but I wasn't on the meds then . . .

I am on effexor. I have lost 100lbs on Atkins in the last year. Anti-depressants can affect weight loss in some people, on Atkins or any other plan/WOE/diet, etc.
