So I thought I understood how to figure out net carbs (carbs-fiber-sugar alcohol) but now I see on the Atkins drink I was having today that the nutrition label said total carbs 5, dietary fiber 4, sugar 1 and the front of the container says "only 2 net carbs". So does that mean that I need to be adding any sugar grams back on to the total after subtracting fiber if they are just sugar and not sugar alcohol? Thanks!

Re: Net Carb Count Help!
Net carbs are total carbs minus dietary fiber. Sugar alcohols, while subtracted according to DANDR 2002, do affect some people's weight loss.
My advice would be to use products only in emergencies and eat real food the rest off the time. We often see people stalled by products, and they are not helping with one's sweet tooth either.
As for the net carbs in the shake... The numbers on the label are rounded. So the product could be having 5.4 total carbs, 3.6 g dietary fiber... 1.8 net carbs.
Furthermore, the number written on front of the Atkins packages is not found by calculating total carbs minus dietary fiber. It is determined by testing the effect the product has on the blood sugar of some subjects."Get action. Seize the moment. Man was never intended to become an oyster."

When I am on the road I pack a little food container with the freezer pads in them and pack some eggs, left over meats, veggies and cheese
