Today I bought a carton instead of packs and on the carton it lists HFCS and sugar as ingredients. I have been search trying to find some info on if inhaling sugar affects blood sugar but I haven't found anything aside from someone claiming it's a conspiracy, that nicotine isn't addictive, the sugar is what gives you withdrawls. I have smoked these the whole time I've been on Atkins and I'm losing weight 20 lbs. in the last 2 months, that's when I got a scale, probably another 10-20 before. So it doesn't seem to be hurting but I can't say that it wouldn't improve without them. Does anyone know what the effects on blood sugar are? Also, does anyone know a brand without sugar or HFCS? And before anyone says it, yes I know I should quit and I will...just not yet.

Re: Cigarettes containing HFCS and sugar
I'm sorry.... but my thinking is.... if you're smoking... the SUGAR that might be in them isn't the biggest potential danger...
I just lost my step-dad... 59 years old... to lung cancer...2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!

Ah yes, now I remember why I quit contributing here. Instead of getting an answer you are seeking you get judgemental responses regardless of whether or not you pre-empt them by addressing that aspect in your initial post.

Baby steps, right Moss? Don't leave or anything--keep contributing here. It's just a bump in the road and you will get to where you need to go if you just keep moving forward.

Re: Cigarettes containing HFCS and sugar
I didn't even know there was sugar in some cigarettes. I think I found the same conspiracy website that you did. Other than that, couldn't find a lot of info or info that would be helpful. I'm curious to know more about this too.

Re: Cigarettes containing HFCS and sugar
I was a smoker for about 15 years, only quitting for my pregnancies. It is a hard habit to break, even harder than carbs. Every smoker knows that smoking is bad, God knows it has been shoved down our throats every day. I was able to quit just 2 months ago.
I have never heard that before myself(the sugar thing). Good luck to you on your journey.35, 5'10 1/2

Re: Cigarettes containing HFCS and sugar
I don't think it would affect your sugar at all. I know diabetics that smoke and they don't have a sudden spike and have to do a shot after a cig. I wouldn't think it would absorb into your lungs and blood stream like that. If that was the case imagine working in a bakery or somewhere where a lot of sugar particles are in the air. You'd be so high on sugar you couldn't function LOL
To me this falls in the category with the new HCG diet that is convinced you can absorb fat through your skin and get fat from it. So no lotions, no touching fatty meat etc. Wouldn't all butchers be morbidly obeses if that were the case? Makes no sense to me.

Re: Cigarettes containing HFCS and sugar
thank you atkinsgal08... it's been hard, especially on my Mama.. she was a lot older.. but they were soul mates... been together 12 years... traveled the world together..
anyway... I'm sorry Moss... but I can't help being honest...and it seems like the sugar would be so minute.......it wouldn't have an effect.... but then again.. it's sugar.... so by atkins law... no sugar.... ingested.... and since it is absorbed... I'm guessing that would mean inhaled... only you can judge how your body reacts to it...

Re: Cigarettes containing HFCS and sugar
Peytonn, I think you are handling this fine, you have apologized and when Moss is ready to come back and get the support he/she needs, he/she will. You don't have to feel responsible for this person's decision or anything, we all make those mistakes of coming across not-how-we-mean-to, but each of us has the responsibility to control our own feelings as well.Originally posted by Peytonn View PostI hope you don't go away...

When I came here a few days ago, some of my posts were met with what I thought was abruptness on one person's part, and I started to get agitated about it. Rather than doing that, I decided that I was here for a bigger reason than to be accepted here, but instead, because I wanted to lose the weight that I need to lose, and if I need to ignore this person, I will. However, that is not the case, and I got to know the person a little and realized she is sweet as pie, and that I was likely reading her incorrectly all along. I was in control of my own feelings, I decided not to allow it to affect me, and it worked out fine. It's so easy to read others wrong and be misread online, it's just one of those things.
