  • Losing Total Control

    Hello All,

I need help! I am utterly and completely losing control..for the past few weeks I have been hit with Insomnia, my body is tired but I can't get any sleep..the stress of everything goin on right now is getting to me but I kept on working on my diet and the gym..then I would not sleep during the night but I started to fall asleep during the mornings if I had nothing to do.so i would wake up in the afternoon and no food was eaten until late that night, my body is tired, I am starting to break out and now I have a sore throat. 2 days ago (due to the no food all day because I was sleeping all day) I broke down and had non atkins friendly food.

On Friday I had a Whopper Jr with fries and water
Saturday I had pizza, bread and water
and today I guess my body has had it I went to bed at 2 am last night and woke up at 4 pm eastern time and so far no food but I am not hungry due to my sore throat. Nothing in my life right now has closure everything is up in the air and in limbo.

I stopped going to the gym.

Not been able to get here for a while, no energy at all.
not sure what to do really...
    highest 230 ---- started atkins------current 175 lbs
    July 2009 ---------12/20/2009 ---------03/18/2010
    <------------------>

I started atkins in late november but every other week just sort of fell off the wagon and was not working out..late december I started to really follow it and added the gym from november to december I only lost like 7 lbs not following it right..from december to march 18 I lost 50 lbs give or take depending what mood my scale is on lol.

whoa! sounds like it's time to drop back and punt!

I hope whatever the stress things are settle down... and that you're able to get back on track.. (this coming from somebody who is sitting here instead of being out jogging... I too am having a 'motivation' problem today)

I have to real answers... just hope that things settle down... and you get back on track... and feel better...

      Re: Losing Total Control

Don't lose sight of the progress you have already made, you are doing so good. I would try to just make it through one minute, one hour and then one day.
I cannot stress enough that you need to have food prepared for the week. Snacks and meals. I have never been successful on low carb when I was winging it.
I cook up a ton of protien for the week and bag it and make servings out of it and then I hard boil eggs, slice cheese into one ounce servings, and just try to set myself up for a good week.
you were right to come here and vent. Do you have a journal of your own ?? I find that priceless, to have a place I can come to and vent and talk and write anything I want into and get feedback. You get to follow your progress on a day to day basis.
You may not be able to control what is going on around you, I can relate, that is our life has been lately. But I can control what I choose to do for my eating. My husband is not on plan with me and I have to make his work lunches, well, he would do it for me, but he works and I am at home, so I feel it is the least I can do for him . Our grown daughter and her husband and two kids, almost three and nine moved in with us a few months ago from out of state and will be here indefinately while they go to school and get on thier feet, they eat all the stuff I can't and we obviously share a kitchen. Right now I have lasagna and cheese cake in my fridge but below it I have hard boiled eggs, cheddar, string cheese, sausage, bacon, raw eggs to cook quickly, salmon and chicken ready to eat. I will not give myself the opportunity to let that food call to me, I get out my own food and leave that stuff alone. I keep steam fresh veggies and salad in the fridge and freezer and they are ready to go.
It can be done despite stress. I have found stress is worse if it allows me to sabatoge my progess and after six years struggling with this, I have done enough self sabatoge to have some experience in that subject.
I finally decided I love myself enough to put me first and if my hubby decides to join me , great, but if not, he has to do things his way and I cannot let it throw me off.
You can do it. You have so much support here and so much knowledge here as well.
Do not give up on yourself, you have worked so hard and done so much, you really can do it !1

for sleeping problems i find drinking whipping cream or eating beef liver before bed helps

im allergic to whipping cream though but the times i did drink it it helped really good i think its cause of the B vitamins

and as for your sore throat i find i need to do these things or els i get one

make sure theres not alot of dust in your room

make sure you change your bed sheets every week and change your pillow case everyday and before puting on clean sheets on your bed make sure you shake them violently outside to get the dust off

make sure you checked your windows and any odd openings for black mold since it was just winter time awhile ago it could have grown alot and you havent noticed it yet it snuck up on me this winter for awhile

also if you have been takeing melatonin that always gives me a sore throat it can somewhat help get you to sleep abit ealier but it gives a sore throat for about 15 hours after takeing? its not a bad sore throat but its a little noticeable and im not even sure if it is a sore throat but it feels like one sorta

          Amen and amen, Stephie!

DON'T GIVE UP, SUMMERDRESSGIRL! If you don't have a journal, start one today. I promise I will read it and give encouragement, but so will other people. Having met Stephie here and been able to chit chat with her has made ALL the difference in me having motivation. Not to mention being able to get my thoughts out on "paper". You can do this! You can! You already have come so far--you're 50lbs lighter than you were in December, right? You can continue to fly above your circumstances by tweaking a few of your habits, like premaking your food per Stephie's advice and visiting her often and journaling. Start there and see where it takes you! It should put you in a better place than where you're mind is at now, right?

          *hugs*

I agree. Get right back on track. Don't slip back into old habits of feeding your emotions. Find some other way to "feed" them... exercise, painting, drawing, kick boxing, dancing... punching a pillow if you have to. You have come too far to allow old habits take over. Look at your before and after picture and use that for your motivtion. I know the food makes you feel better at the moment, but are you going to be happy being the size you were before? YOU CAN WIN THIS!!!!!!

                Re: Losing Total Control

I would say the same as the other poster's. Take a good long look at your before and during pictures.....really try to tap into what your quality of life was from the before picture to the during picture.

I don't know you personally, however, when I look at the two, I think.....wow, she looks like her self-esteem has just shot through the roof!!! I also see how you have your pretty long hair all down on your shoulders.....I see how you are outside in the sun and your smile is beaming! In the first picture you look like you were just smiling for the picture and that is all.

You have come so far and it is easy to get to a place where all the hard work you put in seems like nothing more than a part of your past...but it's creating the future you as well and you can't discount that for one second.

Tony Robbins has a quote that goes "Our greatest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure".....it's scary and sobering and true. Show yourself how powerful you are and get over this thing. You have proved it can be done.....now prove it can be finished. You are a conqueror! Nothing less.

                Hugs and Love from SC!!!

Don't you dare give up now!!!! You personally helped keep me from quitting last week. Your encouragement meant the world to me. You have come so far. So you hit a "bump" in the road. Don't let the guilt eat you up inside resulting in more bad habits. Leave the whopper & fries behind like last Friday..you can't get it back but you don't have to have a repeat performance. I'm sorry you are having such a hard time sleeping. I have major insomnia issues too. Stress is something I'm very familiar with but I find my walks help me release some of it. Please look long & hard at your before & during pictures. You look so much healthier & happier now. Don't let a ditch throw you completely off the road. If you need to vent, you can e-ml me anytime. Peace! Hippychik

Sorry to hear you are feeling so rough

Can you manage soup with your sore throat?

You can make some 'legal' soup by pureeing cooked meat and veggies and adding cream/butter/stock to it to get a consistency you can drink instead of eating.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Summer no!!! NO! You are losing at such a fantastic rate. A rate that will NOT be guaranteed the second time around. Get your rapidly diminishing a** back on the saddle immediately. Your problems will not go away if you are eating carbs. Doughnuts do not solve troubles. Stop eating crap and keep on trucking on OWL. That's an order.

I understand how you feel. The only thing you can do is take control again.

You CAN do it. Make tomorrow a new day. Make it an Atkins day. And yes, don't lose sight of what progress you have already made.

                              Re: Losing Total Control

I haven't read what others advised yet but I just want to give you HUGE KUDOS for posting about your problems!! 2 years ago I lost 100 lbs. on atkins and then 'hid' the fact that I was slowly going back to my own ways....I then gained every bit of it back.

My advice, first of all, would be to see a doctor. Let him/her know what's going on and how you're feeling. Maybe you're coming down with something or have an infection somewhere and that's what's causing all of these problems.

Whatever you do, for your healths sake, DON'T fall back into old eating habits. Make sure that something healthy is always nearby. Maybe if you sit down and write about your feelings and try to remember how you felt 50+ lbs ago and all the things you've learned along the way.

I hope you are able to see the doctor and if you can't afford one, please don't only have crappy food in the house because it's just not worth it. I wish I could go back and tell the skinny me everything I just told you. NO FOOD feels as good as being healthy. Life is so very short, we should enjoy every second that we have

I really hope that you are able to get through all of this okay. don't give up. don't give up. don't give up.
