I've read several threads in which people have mentioned getting blood work done. I'm about to go in for some tests, could anyone share what types of tests they get done to ensure good health while on Atkins?
TIA!

I had bloodwork done because of my thyroid cancer... (that's why my cholesterol shot up to 316 and triglycerides to 340.... or so we think)...
and before that... my cholesterol was high...(like 248 at one point)... so since turning 50... my GP has done like atkinsgal08 said...the lipid panel...... and now thyroid levels.... and sugar.... that I know of......
I didn't do it just because I started eating this way... but once before... I WAS eating this way... and it got higher... so it was 'excuse' to stop... I don't plan on letting that happen again...
I had lipids, triglycerides, thyroid, liver and kidney function, along with a slew of others. Basically I had a full panel done. If they're going to stick you, and it's covered you may as well get the whole shabang done at once.
but even so glucose and other forms of sugars cause much more heart disease than cholesterol ever could and thats one reason why a whole grain , low fat diet is soo stupid to put someone on that has any heart disease risks cause whole grains are carbs that turn into glucose and low fat = low saturated fat which = low amounts of the good LDL and high amounts of the bad LDL that gets stuck and turns rancid
saturated fat helps create the good large fluffy healthy LDL that has no health risk and its in so many healthy foods like eggs, butter, seafood, liver, meat, raw milk, virgin coconut oil im allergic to coconut though
get a complete blood chemistry done too so you will know how well your liver and kidneys are working. if your levels are elevated for the kidney funtion you might not be able to do atkins.
since your phases says extended induction that chem can let you know if your potassium is low too.
are you having any symptoms of any illnesses? if so mention them to your doc so the doc can figure what to test for too.
