    Re: Still @ Day #1

look at the induction list .... and have stuff ready from that list that you really like.... so you can eat all you want from the acceptable foods..... and every time you want sugar.... grab a bite of beef roast instead (or whatever foods you've already got prepared)

I guess that's the main thing for me.. have things ready.... cook a big roast... or chicken... or deviled eggs... or something... and have it on hand... so when you feel the urge for sugar.. you eat a bite or two of something else instead.... and in a few days... the sugar cravings get weaker.. and weaker....

I made pimento cheese and stuffed some celery stick pieces with it... and had it on hand for a quick snack.....

and if possible... get rid of the sweet stuff you crave... give it to somebody else.. so it's not in the house to tempt you...

    you can do it...
    2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!
    2-20-10 190.4 - new scale
    3-20-10 177.8 - 1 month
    5-10-10 169.8 - 25 pounds gone!

Do you have a before picture? Blow it up and put in on your fridge. Or a mirror. It helps.

I suggest looking over the before and after threads on this board.

When I have a large breakfast, like eggs and meat or an omelet and really strive to get in 100 ounces of water - I barely feel hungry for lunch or dinner.

Day one is the most difficult. I think it gets easier every day from there on.

Also, make sure you check out some low-carb recipes.

          Re: Still @ Day #1

Get the items out of your reach if at all possible. Day 1 is always harder but that doesn't mean you can't eat more of the legal foods. Your appetite will diminish as the days go by so MY day 1 was always filled with lots of proteins with some fat thrown in - its more filling. Egg salad or tuna salad - made by you with some veggies thrown in or snack on something crunchy like celery?

You can do it! Down alot of water as well!

Some people find that eating something sour like a dill pickle (gherkin in UK) stops that sugar monster in its tracks.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                  Re: Still @ Day #1

This might not be exactly what you should do based on DANDR but...I think for some people that addiction to the carbs/sugar is soo severe.

I would eat whatever legal foods you want and as much of it as you need to get through the day. Even if that first few days ends up with more celery or cheese than you are supposed to have. It won't help you lose weight if you over eat but it will allow your body to cut it's connection to sugar. After a day or two without the sugar the cravings won't be as bad and then you can jump right into plan following the eating guidelines.

Again, just my suggestion. I am wishing you a good Day 1 today and an even better Day 2 tommorrow.

The first couple of days I over ate my induction foods. I couldn't help it. My cravings were so strong I felt like I had quit smoking all over again. I made lots of deviled eggs and made a big thing of chicken salad. Every time I got a craving I ate an egg or a few bites of chicken salad. The cravings decreased but I still have them. The dill pickle thing has helped some too.

I did what AJ's said. I also had small celery sticks ready.

I think the other thing is that you have to want to succede. Those who have been around, have heard me say this before but what I ask myself when I am tempted by something is "at the end of the day what is going to make me feel good?". I also sometimes will use one or two words to remind myself. It can be anything that will motivate you. Like "loss", "gain", "(your weight or size, or the weight or size you want to be)", "new dress", "summer", etc... One day at a time and it will get easier.

                      Good luck!

Yeah, what veggielover & jj's mommy said. I used to melt cheese as a snack. And eat lots of meat even though it's not the sweet that you want. Sometimes just being full will keep you from wanting anything.

Also, I think cream cheese is induction friendly. My dad gets the mini size at Costco & they satisfy a need for "dessert".

Although I recommend getting rid of the sweet tooth through abstinence, it is okay to have rasberry diet rite cola with zero carbs & flavored with Splenda.
