  • Help! How to recover from a cheat day.....

Friday night I ate off plan, the next day I still showed that I was in ketosis on my strips.

On Sunday I totally blew it and ate completely off plan the whole day and night. Of course I was up almost 7lbs the next day and very bloated.

I've been on plan since Monday and though I'm a little less bloated, I'm still up about 6lbs and keep showing back and forth between neg. and trace on my sticks.

My question is, how long do you think it will take to at least get back to where I was before friday? Would extra work outs help with moving things along?

Best thing to come out of this is I have NO desire to cheat, none at all. I'm sorry I did, but I'm moving on.

Well, a "cheat day" can take about a week to recover from ... if not longer.

Depends on how you define "recover".

Recovering is about more than peeing on a stick.

You've messed with your metabolism, and every time you mess with it, it has a tendency to not believe that what you're doing is for real.

As to how long? Well, it will take as long as it takes. Crystal ball is still in the shop!

Extra work outs might help you feel less guilty, but might not do anything about the weight, as adding more exercise than your body is used to can make it retain water for a few days till it realises that the extra work is the new 'normal' for you and releases that water.

Just stick to your induction menus and drink your water and when your body is ready you will see the scales drop again.

Maybe stay off those scales for a week or more so as not to get too hung up on the numbers? Also keep an eye on your inches - sometimes those shrink when the scales are stubborn.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

LOL, yes I know that no one can tell me exactly how long it takes to recover, but I was just wondering on average how long it takes one.

I guess what I mean bu recover is losing again, not looking like a freakin' tick all bloated , and just feeling "right" again. I had much more energy before.

Seriously, I so do not have the desire to cheat again, I was doing so well and this is not worth it!

I'm hiding the scale, that's a great tip. I know I'm up and I don't need to keep seeing that. I weight myself too much anyways.

            >>I know I'm up and I don't need to keep seeing that.>>

As Dr. Phil said, "You have to own the number". Well, you've owned it ... so put it behind you and get back to being "on plan".

            >>I was just wondering on average how long it takes one.>>

Who knows? Everyone is different ... everyone has a different metabolism.

            >>ecover is losing again,>>

Well, it will take you a few days to get back to burning fat, so ... as I said, it might take a week.

It's always good to learn this lesson early!

i don't weigh myself anymore than 1x per month now.
the scale fluctuates so much it's just not worth the stress.

go by how your clothes fit!!

as for recovering from a cheat day.. i think it's more important to figure out why you cheated than spend your time figuring out how long it will take to recover.

I can gain any where from 4 to 8 pounds when I cheat. It takes me exactly one week for the number to get back to where it was before the cheat. And about the same amount of time to get my cravings under control.
My doctor told me to stop having intimate dinners for four. Unless there are three other people.
