  • Need help!

Hi All, I would really like some feedback please! I am feeling so frustrated.
1 month ago, I was diagnosed Type 2 diabetes. My A1C was 11.5!! I am 34 years old.

So, after this diagnosis, I immediately started Atkins. I did this 6 years ago and did really well on it and lost, but didn’t make it a lifestyle.

I have been on Atkins for just about 1 month. Last week I went back to the Dr and my numbers are perfect. He said I am doing a great job controlling my blood sugar and I had lost about 9 pounds.

Maybe I shouldn’t have done it, but TODAY I got on the scale...and its SIX pounds higher than last Friday. That’s only 4 days ago!? I haven’t cheated or really changed anything. I am going to post what I ate yesterday, so if you see anything I need to change please let me know!

    Thanks for your help,

    Breakfast
1 pork chop cooked in a little butter
    2 eggs scrambled

    Lunch
    A bunless bacon cheeseburger
Ceaser salad with no dressing (I hate dressing!)

    Dinner
2 pieces of Tilapia fish, pan fried in butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese
    1.5 cup of green beans

And of course..water all day. I also have been working out for 30 minutes each morning. I treadmill at a fast walking pace and some jogging for the full 30 minutes

I would really appreciate any thoughts and feedback. I am so frustrated and down after seeing that this morning.

    Re: Need help!

first off congrats on getting healthy eating your atkins.

Now you know that 4 pounds is fluid weight so did you start any new to your exercise plans? that can cause muscle fluid retention.

did youe at any new to you foods? you could be having an intolerance which will result in a fluid sweeling of the tissues.

are you close to TOM that can cause fluid weight gain.

and changes in the salt intake of your diet? that too can cause fluid weight gain.

Have you been measuring so you know that you are still shedding inches of body fat while the scales are palying with your sanity?

      Re: Need help!

for veggies am i understanding this right.. you had romaine lettuce and green beans?
thats not nearly enough. you should be getting some sort of veggie in every meal.

how much water are you drinking?
how much cheese on the burger?
are you mixing any cream or anything in with the scrambled eggs?

as for the scale, are you comparing the doctors office weight to your scale at home? home scales are notorious for not being accurate. measure yourself and take note of inches lost instead.

My guess is your scale and the Dr. scale are not reading the same.

It is a scale thing I think too. Just stick to one scale and be super happy about accomplishing things.
