    Need can pumpkin please.........

    Hey everybody,
    I need a big favor. Where i live and even the large cities around where i live there is no canned pumpkin.....DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXTRA? OR DOES A STORE AROUND WHERE YOU LIVE HAVE ANY? I love eating the mock pumpkin bread and pumpkin cheesecake....im haveing withdrawls if you have some or can get me some just let me know and i will get with you about sending money for pumpkin and shipping.......thanks

    Oh, man, are you in for a search!

    I think it was Del Monte, up around Peoria, IL that released the unfortunate news that the EXTREMELY wet fall and winter caused farm machinery to get stuck in the fields and the pumpkin crop to rot where they sat.

    My wife, who works in a grocery store some 35 miles south of there said the rotten season plus the usual Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays have resulted in the devouring of the pumpkin back stock. (Unfortunately for me, my favorite pie or custard is pumpkin! So, I'm screwed. Good luck on the search.

    Those with back stock, you might be able to make a small fortune with canned pumpkin on Ebay!

        My local Albertson's just got in a lot of canned pumpkin with the brand name of Best Choice. Never heard of it, as it is probably some kind of generic or store brand. The carb counts are a little different than the Libby's that I'm used to using. But it's 100% pure pumpkin, I've had several cans, and I can't tell the difference. And it was cheaper than the name brands, too. Only paid 99 cents a can. If you have an Albertson's near you, perhaps you can request it from the manager.

            I'll check at my store, if I can remember to. I have one can in my cupboard but I think it expired.

              I got some organic canned pumpkin at a local specialty shop... was very different than the Libby's I've been eating. A lot more water content it felt like.

                Just checked. Amazon.com has canned pumpkin for order. Several brands They even have organic. I've tried it (got mine from World Market) and it was delish!

                  Best Choice is common around here. Many times it's exactly the same as the name brand, even made in the same factory. That's what I usually buy for pumpkin.

                    I was aware of the pumpkin shortage, just thought that maybe somewhere in the U.S. had some.....Thanks for the info guys...has anyone used the pumpkin pie mix to make the bread or cheesecake?

                      Pumpkin pie mix - from cans? Lost of illegal stuff in that one.

                        I have the same problem. I had no idea there was a shortage until I was in Giant Eagle one day and ask where the pumpkin was... Lo and Behold she said.. No one has any....
                        I wanted to make some delicious pumpkin cookies (this was in Jan ... Way before induction and my New Lifestyle) I ended up subing in sweet potatos.. Which is a big no no now...
                        I really wanted to make a pumpkin min muffin now So again I was on the search.. I have been back to Giant Eagle, Kroger and Walmart and no one has any .... I will try the world market and whole foods tommorrow...

                          How about ordering the Farmer's Market Organic pumpkin from Amazon at $28.32 for 12 cans with free shipping. I have used that brand and it is very good. According to Amazon they still have it in stock. (Libby is out of stock indefinitely.)

                          If that doesn't work out for you, I still have a bunch of Libby's large cans. The cans are heavy though so shipping would be expensive. Amazon's pumpkin would be a cheaper deal.

                          Please let us know how you make out!

                            in tennesee.... don't they have like Dollar General.. or Family Dollar stores there? here in Georgia... they're all over the place in the boonies... and they have libby's canned pumpkin...

                            also... Ingles grocery store (are they in tennesee?)... they have it... but the weird thing.. the reason it's hard to find... it's with the PIE filling.... (near the jello and pudding and stuff)

                              I just checked... tennesee has 450 Dollar General stores... I'm pretty sure they have pumpkin... they all do here in Georgia..
