No I am not stalled. Just ANGRY
I am doing this fitness challenge that was supposed to be 3 months and judged by percentage of body fat lost.

Our first weigh in and body fat check was on Feb 1st. A month latter I had lost 20lbs and was super excited for the 2nd check point only to find out that one of the machines at the first weigh in was miscalabrated and it was decided just to forget about the whole first month and start over with a weigh in on March 1st.

So our 3rd check point on April 10 was really our 1st check point. The competition ends May 3rd. So the results were posted today and are as follows:
    No. BF % LBs
    180 5.0 13.6
    330 3.8 9.2
    540 3.7 10.8
    140 2.0 2.8
    420 1.9 20.6

I am number 420 in fifth place, there are a whole bunch of other people in the competition but I only put up the important ones. I am a little peeved about all of this. Especially number 180 in first place with a 5% body fat loss in 1 month. IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!?!?!

I have lost 40lbs since Feb 1st and that only amounts to 4.5% body fat loss for me. I have been lifting too and have a viable change in muscle mass.

The only reason I joined the stupid competition was because it happened at the same time I had weened my last baby and was going to start a diet anyway. If I had known the people running it were going to mess it up so bad I would have NEVER taken part.

Did they use one of the hand caliber things for body fat? My experience is they aren't accurate. I know there was one at the Y and you could use it 4 different times and get 4 totally different results.

Uh, yeah, ditto to poobears. When I was 190 lbs at 20 years old, and only a size 12, my caliper body fat measurement was 27%.

I got it measured by a personal trainer a month ago, when I was 250 lbs, size 18 (okay stretchy pants 18...), and he says I am 31% body fat. Pff... Whatever. I am so over that. More like 40+%.

And, compared to the you prior to 2010, you won, so stop comparing yourself to everyone else. You are doing GREAT!!

the caliper thing is definately not good... when I was running 40-50 miles each week... at 5'4... I weighed 114... and I went to this 'wellness week' thing.... and I was told my body fat was 27% as well....
          2-15-10 194.8 - highest ever!
          2-20-10 190.4 - new scale
          3-20-10 177.8 - 1 month
          5-10-10 169.8 - 25 pounds gone!

            Re: Super-de-duper PISSED

It is an electrical body fat test. I looked up the accuracy of test results for this particular machine and it said it can have a margin of error from 3-5%.

I am just so frustrated with how disorganized and, dishonest and crappy the whole thing has been. I also hate that for the competition part that my first 20lbs don't count, and that we didn't find out how everyone was doing until there were only 13 days left and it is too late to do much of anything about it.

Oh well I am going to Puerto Vallartawhen I reach goal even if I don't win the stupid money. Although the $700 dollar first prize would have been a big help.

              Re: Super-de-duper PISSED

did you or anyone have to pay money to enter the contest?

the event should be canceled and everyone have there money returned

they probably thought the machine was busted cause you were loseing weight too fast or the person or people they wanted to win were not in the lead but now after altering the event they are

                Re: Super-de-duper PISSED

Everyone paid $30 dollars to enter and signed a contract stating the terms of the contest. When they figured out some of the readings from the first weigh in were inaccurate they issued "Amendments" to the contract that we all had signed. We were required to sign the amended contract if we wanted to continue to compete. We were never offered our money back.

None of the "contestants" were consulted about what they would like to happen. Many of us wanted the competition to be judged by percentage of body weight lost because that measurement was done correctly at the firs weigh in.

"busted cause you were loseing weight too fast or the person or people they wanted to win were not in the lead but now after altering the event they are"

                My thoughts exactly!!
