Newbie here. I was wondering...I know that some meds can mess with weight loss attempts. If the ketostix are still turning purple, does that mean that the meds are not causing a problem? I'm on day 12 of Induction and haven't lost any more weight since starting the meds on day 4. There are several possibilities as to why this is, I was just hoping to eliminate the meds as the problem. Thanks!

Hi Kristy, glad you're here!! Nice to know you too!! :nod
I'm sorry, I'm not familiar with Strattera, but I'd say if your ketostix are purple, you are fine! I take Effexor XR anti-depressant which has not at all affected my weight ..
Yes, TOM could be the culprit .. hang in there, eat right (whole foods, no junk, not even low carb junk), drink lots of water and exercise, and you should be fine!
Let us know if we can help you further! YOU CAN DO IT!

med can interfer with weight loss with out interferring with the ability to burn fats for fuel.
It is not unuslual to not have a scale lose of pounds after the largee initial scalwe loss too. This happens on all weight loss plans and is the point many folk think their plan haas stopped working and give up. Keep eating your Atkins and doing your exercise and you should see on your tape measure inches of fat melting off still. HAng in there even if your meds do slow your loss you will be getting healthier and smaller and that is what this is all about. A life time of a healthier smaller you.'

As 2big said it is normal for weightloss to slow down in teh second and third week of Atkins.
I see you wanted to lose 37 pounds and have already lost 9 of them in 12 days :yikes that is a quarter gone already, so you have done really well :yes
Have you read the sticky in the 14-day induction forum called 'weightloss is not linear'? You might find it enlightening. :hugWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

Just want to say hi and also encourage you, as I see you have already received excellent advice re: the med issue.
As Elizellen says you have already lost a fourth of what you set out to lose. That loss is excellent. People around here who know me, know my notorious story of having lost absolutely 0 pounds during induction. I did it by the book, and not one pound lost. I did lose inches and that was my encouragement, oh, and finding this board kept me on the straight and narrow. So, take heart, and stay the course.

You're doing great! There's often a slow down after the initial water drop. The purple is GOOD. I do know that Prednisone throws me out of ketosis, and makes me gain. Also, some meds, such as anti inflamatory arthritis drugs (don't want to mention any names) make you hold water big time. I had the problem...was losing major fat, but replacing the weight with water retention. Got off the meds, BIG TIME WHOOSHIE!!!
