  • first day on atkins

First day went ok, now I know what people are talking about having a nauseating feeling but it’s not that bad.
Breakfast: scramble eggs, turkey slices 2, and one slice of American cheese.
    Coffee,
Lunch: Tuna salad with half of an avocado.
    32 ounce water
Dinner: chicken baked with spinach and half of an avocado.
    Coffee
    32 ounce water
p.s I need to add snacks but for some reason I just dint feel that hungry today,
Well my body was really craving sugar especially when I had to make my kids peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a snack but I have to be strong and stick with it plus I think that phase one is the hardest, it is detox from all that sugary food I’m use to.

    Congratulations on your first day!

A few suggestions - we are only allowed 1/2 of an avocado on induction per day and you need some more veggies for the day. The spinach is awesome but a cup of it is only .2 net carbs and we are supposed to have MOST of our carbs for the day coming from veggies.

Wishing you fantastic success on day 2!

    Mini Goals:
212 lbs. (10% of me gone)

      Where's your vegetables?

You had spinach ... where's the rest?

Was the American cheese "real" or did it come in it's own wrapper? American cheese is really too processed for Atkins ... you would do better with a less processed cheese.

      More water won't hurt.

make sure your coffee is decaf and is not counted towards your water intake for the day

and its half a small avocado which is like 1/3 a medium or 1/4 a large and its also in the speical category so it may slow down weight loss for some people so you may want to avoid them

I'm new too but I thought it was 1/2 avocado per day...? I've lost 10 in 4 weeks, but last week nothing. Thyroid is acting up again so went to a new doc. A chiropractor this time and I have a funny feeling about it, but I'm desperate! Did lose inches around the waist - now I look only 7 months pregnant instead of 9.

            >> thought it was 1/2 avocado per day>>

            It is.

And most avocados are the same size.

                Re: first day on atkins

I think maybe because they are really a fruit rather than a vegetable, and Dr Atkins had noticed that eating too much avocado had affected some of his patients' weightloss progress. I imagine this is why he included it in the 'special category' list instead of the vegetable lists.

If they do not affect your losing you can add more when you move to OWL.

                  Oh, thats weird.
                  Are they high in sugars?
They seem like the perfect food.

                    Re: first day on atkins

Not particularly high in sugars, and they do have a fair amount of fibre. Maybe Dr Atkins thought it would be too easy to overeat them? I know I could easily eat a couple of them at one sitting

And to me a big part of Atkins induction was working out what a 'proper portion' of anything is.

And although Dr Atkins did say we did not need to count (restrict) calories on Atkins, he did say that calories did count!
