  • Menopause

I was just wondering if anyone going thru or starting menopause and is on this wol, is having problems losing weight. Because I have heard that's a hard time to lose weight.

I started both at the same time.

Weight loss is individual. One person may have trouble, another might not.

        Re: Menopause

I'm basically through it but found that my weight gain was in different places. It isn't necessarily harder to lose weight in general, but I find it hard to lose it in certain places on my body. I've never had the upper stomach (right below the chest) and now, more situps! LOL

I'm not quite there but heading in that direction. Lost of strange swings so perimenopausal. But lost weight fine. Just need some patience and discipline. No reason to give up on yourself because of your life changes. You need strong bones and good health and feeling good about yourself now as always.

              Re: Menopause

I'm pretty sure I'm perimenopausal, and I've been concerned about this myself. I decided that instead of worrying about the weight coming off, I would decide to eat according to this WOE and let the lbs come off when they do. It can't hurt to follow Atkins all the way through, and you'll definitely be eating healthier, kwim?

Calico.. I totally understand what your saying.. I have no problems yet..and I have been eating like this since 6/28/09.... well besides the usual stalls and things I wasn't supposed to eat... but I was just curious as to whether people have had that problem....I noticed sometimes that people gain weight in face...Lord knows I already got rid of 2 chins.. with 3 more left!!! LOL

                      Re: Menopause

Bummer that you gained it all back, but it's really easy to do if we don't heed the things we learn about our bodies. I was on Atkins years ago. Well, let me back up--I did low calorie for a while and lost 19lbs, gained 7 back, THEN went on Atkins. I lost 29 more lbs, touching 147, but never staying there. I stayed at about 150 for a while, then soon it was 155, then in the past year, it's been 160, then up to 167. I was 188 when I started, so honestly, I gained back 20lbs over the past few years, so I figured what I'm doing isn't working, LOL. So here I am! Only I'm in peri, which sucks because I know this time it will be difficult to take the weight off. So now, it HAS to be a WOL for me.

                        Re: Menopause

I had instant menopause last summer, after my hysterectomy. Even with HRT, I felt terrible, and gained 16 pounds in 4 months.
I also have Hashimoto's and Sjogren's Syndrome, sso fatigue is always an issue. But I have lost 13 pounds since March 1. Slow but steady wins the race!

                          Re: Menopause

I was feeling very fatigued and tired myself, even after losing weight. I was waiting on my burst of energy like everyone else feels. But I was still very tired. Then I was diagnosed with Thyroid. The doctor said that I should see faster weight loss. LOLOL Man I have been waiting on that!!! But I started to feel much better, after taking the meds, but now I am back to feeling tired again. Seems you can't win no matter what you do....Congrats to you on your weight loss.. that's awesome.
