  • Moving on to OWL???

    Hey

I just wanted to start off by saying Atkins is giving me my life back. I'm 18, and I've struggled with my weight all my life. After losing my mom, it got out of control and I found myself weighing 210.6 lbs, not to mention I'm only 5'3. I joined an LA Weight Loss center and got down to 189, but eventually quit because I was hungry and miserable. After a while, I gained all the weight back plus more. Last month I weighed 236.6 lbs and decided enough was enough. I started the diet on March 15th and have already lost 23 lbs. I now weigh 212.6 lbs with a goal weight of 138 lbs and I know I can do it with Atkins!

Since I have a lot weight to lose when should I move into OWL? I know I want to get out the 200's first but after that when should I move on? Any suggestions?

Read Ch. 12 and 13 in your DANDR.

Remember that staying on Induction too long can backfire on you. You should lost MOST of your weight on OWL.

Sorry to hear about your loss.

Remember, DANDR02 says to eat liberally of protein and fat as long as you eat to satisfaction and not to stuffed.

      Good luck on your restart!

Congratulations on those 23 pounds lost already
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Congrats on your stellar weight loss

You are smarter then I am - I didn't start until last August at 29.5 years old. I SHOULD have started when I was 18 like you...why we don't make the effort to change our behavioural patterns when they get out of control is beyond me.

Good for you for grabbing the bull by the horns - you can do this!

And for the record - I went straight to OWL after my first two weeks of induction. After all, the first rung is just an extra 5 carbs (or 1 cup) of veggies. After I thought about it for awhile, I realized I'd rather get more vitamins and minerals in and up the vegetable count. I can stay on any rung I want for as long as I want. I also STILL weigh more then you're beginning weight...so don't go by having lots to lose as an indicator for staying on induction, as a PP has mentioned, it can definitely backfire on you.
