Re: Guess I shoud go back to being fat and sick...

Not to bash Dr. Atkins, but before the turn of the 18th to the 19 centuries, before the invention of injectable insulin, there were, drs who prescribed avoiding flour, sugar, etc.

Even Dr. Atkins admitted he wasn't the first. But in our time, he was the "heretic" who promoted it the best with his books.

Funny part of it is, I was visiting a site where Dr. Mary Vernon (co-author of Atkins Diabetes Revolution, (ADR)) gave a series of short video answers to questions, there is a question about her history. Her answer, which was very interesting, never once mentioned her connections to Dr. Atkins. Even though her forward and other comments in ADR give credit to Atkins for his revolutionary views on low carb WOE. It would appear even today, with the growing pool of data supporting Low Carb, there is still a bit of a paranoia regarding associating ones self with Robert Atkins.

    Funny... unfortunate, but funny!

Well I know he wasn't the first to promote low carb eating.. but in my life time, he was the one who came up with the plan.. he took alot of crap over it, and it blows my miind how he still does...My point was that now everyone who has a diet to promote, now says to stop eating processed foods, white sugar, white flour etc...When someone asks me how I lost my first 100 pounds, I scream from the rooftops.. Dr. Atkins.. I never say low carb, no processed foods etc.. I give him credit where credit is due...by the way I did this wol back in the early 1990's and went nuts on eating tons of bacon...and I still lost in 2 weeks.. 23 pounds.. however as always I never stuck with anything long enough to take all the weight off.
