  • Will caffeine cause me to ruin my induction?

I tried not having caffeine and it's not possible! LOL Wicked headaches ( I know, withdrawal) but is it a problem for all? or some?

I have 2 cups of coffee a day. I have cut out softdrinks

If you want to eliminate caffeine, the trick is to wean yourself off it.

    Not everyone gives up caffeine.

I've weaned myself off caffeine before. Just ease off slowly. First, go to "half-caff", then down from there. I like coffee places that let me pour my own so I can custom-mix the decaf and regular. (I'm now doing 1 cup of quarter-caff a day.)

Re: Will caffeine cause me to ruin my induction?

I drank 2 cups in the morning the entire time, and lost weight. For some people, caffeine provokes an insulin response, but not all, not even most (according to my GP).
If it makes you stall, quit drinking it. But do it gradually, doing half-caff, as suggested.
Or, switch to tea, since it has a lot less caffeine.

Re: Will caffeine cause me to ruin my induction?

I didn't give it up, but I like the taste of coffee. I have 1 cup a day, and then switch to water. I have only had soda on two different days since starting.

I didn't want to give coffee up, but some people HAVE to.

                best wishes

Re: Will caffeine cause me to ruin my induction?

I managed to get through Induction and the first few rungs while still drinking coffee, and lost weight. The problem kicked in for me after I'd been doing Atkins for many months (I forget what rung I was on). Suddenly I found that it triggered an insulin response. Now I drink decaf after slowing weaning myself, but I do treat myself once in a while.

Speaking of coffee, it may be a 2 cup morning. Woke up at 5:30, earlier than usual.

Re: Will caffeine cause me to ruin my induction?

I gave up caffeine completely while I was starting out. I didn't include it again until I was on my last 5 pounds. I re-introduced it to get my GI tract going again... The bonus was I was dead tired that day and it had me typing like 120 words a minute...

Since then I have been having one or two a day and the last few pounds have continued to MELT away.
