    I loved this part

Re: Has anyone seen this article?

This makes me both happy and cross. For 9 years I've been dieting low carbing and on and off atkins, not because it didn't work or make me feel better (it did!) - but because family members were calling me 'stupid' saying I would die of a heart attack. And with my bad luck I got a muscle injury (from exercising) in my chest which caused chest pain and I gave up so many times because I was so scared of what might happen to me. I get so annoyed when I think of the time I've wasted

Re: Has anyone seen this article?

I love this quote out of the article regarding the "Four-Diet Study":

"In 2008 Stampfer co-authored a study in the New England Journal of Medicine that followed 322 moderately obese individuals for two years as they adopted one of three diets: a low-fat, calorie-restricted diet based on American Heart Association guidelines; a Mediterranean, restricted-calorie diet rich in vegetables and low in red meat; and a low-carbohydrate, nonrestricted-calorie diet. Although the subjects on the low-carb diet ate the most saturated fat, they ended up with the healthiest ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol and lost twice as much weight as their low-fat-eating counterparts."

The butter verses toast is one comment, but the statement before it is even more important:

If you reduce saturated fat and replace it with high glycemic-index carbohydrates, you may not only not get benefits—you might actually produce harm,” Ludwig argues. The next time you eat a piece of buttered toast, he says, consider that “butter is actually the more healthful component.”

Some serious stuff, and the research just keeps on coming!

(Someone needs to e-mail that article to Nurse Furtado at John Hopkins, she could do with a little light reading!

Ha! I was just going to post a link from belief.net which talks about that specific article. It was fun to read. Of course, WE already know this, and the odds of the US government ever apologizing for their "mistake" are none and nada.
