Hi Everyone - I am new to this. I started the Atkins on Wed, i want to lose a stone, its going very well so far I have lost 3 lbs. What I want to know is if I get to my goal before the induction is finished what do I do? I don't think I need to lose anymore than that.

    Welcome to ADBB!

Well, you shouldn't get to your goal before Induction is over, but anything is possible!

Are you reading the book, Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution (2002)?

You might want to move to OWL at the end of the first 7 days.

No I haven't read the book, I have just been doing it all online.

Hi, Lizzie! Congratulations on your amazing success so far! If you are already almost at goal, you might want to climb the OWL rungs every 5 or so days just to test for possible food intolerances. What surprised me was not knowing I was allergic to nightshades and to gluten until I took the time to not have them for a couple of days and then added them back in. Those rungs really seriously help in terms of knowing what foods you can live with and which ones want to kick you in the patootie! Sometimes all it takes is for a food you're allergic to to create problems in your body and stimulate appetite and weight regain. From here forward, you're looking at Atkins for health rather than for weight loss, so take your time and enjoy your journey for a lifetime of satisfaction!

          Oh.

I've never known anyone to be successful over time without a copy.

            Welcome, Lizzie!

Are you planning to read the book? You can find cheap copies online. The problem with the information online is that it's not always accurate, not even at Atkins.com or here.

You can start Atkins in OWL, since you have little weight to lose.

I would also recommend reading Atkins for Life.

Hi Cleo - Thanks for that. I dont really know what the owl is so I have just bought the book from ebay. It all seems really complicated, I am from Scotland and I noticed most people on this site seem to be American so some of the words are different. For instance I tried to by Jellyo everywhere and cant find it, I am taking it you can't buy it here in the UK, however I managed to get an alternative. Whats nightshades? Also can you tell me why you have to avoid alcohol. Vodka has no carbs in it and if drunk with coke zero whats the problem? I like wine so I will avoid that pmsl.

I have known people to be successful without the book, but it is definitely better to read the book.

Anyone can be religious without reading the Bible, and you can go to Heaven/Switzerland/wherever if you have just the basics down, but to truly get in touch with what works and why, the book is really a bonus!

Plus there's some sessy parts in there.

See, that's why you need the book!

                  Nightshades:

WHFoods: What are nightshades and in which foods are they found?

The reason alcohol isn't permitted until the 5th rung of OWL is that your body will use alcohol for fuel instead of fat. So you're sacrificing fat burning while you have alcohol in your system.

Jello in the US is "jelly" in the UK.

                  Hope that helps.
