  • Almost a month in

I am 24 days in...ended up doing extended induction altho I did have one "bad" day where I ate a bunch of carbs...I was feeling ill and ate some pasta and sweetened popcorn. Went right back on the next day and am happy to report as of this morning I have lost 14 lbs. I actually thought I wasn't losing much but seem to have lost 4 lbs over the last 3 days. I am still having some issues with eating too much sour cream and cream cheese but am working on it. I make my own salad dressing and it is hard to eat it in just tiny amounts. I have found that if I eat mustard greens it helps with the fiber issue.

Soo...yayyy...I was getting discouraged but feel back on track. With no thyroid gland and being over the age of 50 I'm pretty psyched that I've been able to lose this much so far.

I have been working out with hand weights 3x week. Trying to walk but my back is giving me the blues. I'm going to start a Pilates video this weekend.

          Great progress, Carly!!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

oh.. and I've 54 (55 in 4 weeks)... and no thyroid...

it's a pain losing anyway... and the 'no thyroid' just makes it different..

                  Re: Almost a month in

Thanks all. I think one thing that is helping me this time around is that I am not looking for a quick fix. I know that it may take me a long time to get to my goal weight and that I can never afford to go back to eating "anything I want". It's really funny now that I can actually taste when something has real sugar in it. I took a bite of some bottled blue cheese dressing the other day and literally felt like spitting it out...I could taste sugar in it and didn't want it..so I think that is a good sign.

Oh and btw...my ketostix are rarely ever anything other than light purple...sometimes barely that so I guess you really can't go by the color as per that article someone posted.

                      Re: Almost a month in

since my thyroid cancer... my ketostix don't turn at all.. I'm blaming it on the synthroid... they do NOT TURN AT ALL... no matter what...

so i'm guessing it's the medicine messing with it..
