  • Feel i already Failed

    I have had a lovely breakfast 1 egg, 2 bacon 1 large mushroom and 2 tomatoe, LUNCH, Prawns, Cucumber with a teaspoon of Mayonniase, DINNER, Chicken, Asparagus 4 spears, 3 broccoli florets. I thought i would count up my carbs for the day and its saying im over on my fitday calorie counter its sayin 29.7 carbs and i feel very down by this. My menu is below of what i had today please can someone have a look at this for me and tell me what you think am i doing it wrong on the carb counter. xx

    Did you subtract the fiber? That number is in the calories eaten today window below the food entry log.

    Your egg entry should be "egg, whole, raw". Fitday often adds ingredients to cooked foods, so you should enter things as "raw" whenever possible. Same with the mushrooms, if you started with raw.

    Same with the tomatoes, unless they were already cooked.

    Same with the broccoli, unless you measured it after it was cooked.

    Same with the bacon.

    On the whole, it looks like a good day. I think you'll feel better once you subtract the fiber!

    How much water did you have?

      I would enter the bacon cooked, unless you really used all the fat it left in the pan.

        My fitday always says I'm over, but that's because I make sure to work in lots of fibrous veggies. Tomatoes and broccoli have lots of fiber, so take notice of that.

        If you are using fitday.com, it's a little more difficult to see how much fiber is in each ingredient on your menu, but it's doable by looking at each individual nutrition facts page.

          Thanks everyone broccoli and toms are not going near me now for a long time lol. I lost alot of weight before without doing all this so i think i may stick to how i done it before as all this measuring makes me brain ache lol. xx

              Why not? They are perfectly fine, even for Induction.

              Just subtract dietary fiber from carbohydrates to see how many net carbs you ate today.

                Yes Georgiana this is all that has passed my lips today apart from a tablespoon of sunflower oil for the mushrooms egg etc. xx

                    718 is under the cals section yes. I do love my broccoli and toms but looking they are so high and was going to sit down tonight with a stick of celery if i get peckish but now going over on my total i wont :-(xx

                      That's way too low. Is this how many calories you usually eat? Undereating calories will slow down your metabolism, making weight loss and weight maintenance more difficult.

                          Owen---NOoooooo. Broccoli and tomatoes are GOOD veggies have during induction. Yes, they are high, but they have fiber that you can subtract. By eating them you are working toward getting half of your net carbs from veggies the way you are supposed to. Please eat them. Often.

                          It really seems like you are doing fine, you just need to figure out how to up your calories, like Georgiana mentioned.

                              Okay... So 29.7 g carbohydrate and 11.1 g dietary fiber means you had 18.6 net carbs. You're not over.

                              If you measured your vegetables raw, change those entries in FitDay. It will change your net carbs, too.

                              Don't forget to also change the egg entry.
