    Re: Feel i already Failed

From what I can see, you ate 18.71 net carbs, so you were fine, except for your calories.

      Re: Feel i already Failed

To summarize, on Atkins we count NET carbs - that is total carbs - fibre. Induction is < 20 NET CARBS per day.

Veggie carbs are GOOD carbs - we need to get more than half our daily carbs from veggies for that reason exactly - we are getting good nutrition from veggies and need to get into the habit of eating these "good" carbs more than "bad" (or less good) carbs.

Remember to eat until satisfied, but not stuffed - you should not be going hungry on Atkins. Other than your calories being very low, your menu is excellent! Good job!

Your veggies are good! You do need to increase your protein and fat intake. Aim for 65% fat. Don't be afraid to eat enough. Aim for 4-8 oz of protein/meat at lunch and/or dinner as well as maybe another egg at breakfast. Cook using butter and/or olive oil for an easy way to add fat. Aim for more than 1300-1400 calories at a minimum.

In addition to adding veggies as raw in Fitday, look for more specific entries for chicken. If you had one cup of diced chicken without skin, look for the chicken, skinless or chicken breast skinless as that is more accurate. If you have chicken with the skin, use that. This helps your fat numbers be more correct. I learned this the hard way.

Nope, you need more calories. Here is your pie chart for the day we are talking about:

Your fat/protein/carbs ratio is 50%/35%/15%. You want to up your fat by about 15%. I'm guessing that will even out your ratios. Most people shoot for something like 65/25/10 or 65/30/5 or in between when they are on induction. Later as you go through the rungs the carbs slice will get bigger which will cause the other slices to get smaller, but for induction, you want to eat more fat. It will help you stay full longer amongst other things. Adding more fat will up your calories too.

                    Your calories should be MORE.

You might want to aim for 10-12 times your current body weight in calories.

                    Certainly at least 1500 calories.

Also, make sure you're putting all your fats etc. into Fitday.

Yes - it doesn't seem to have any fat or oil listed at all at present!
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

                        Re: Feel i already Failed

We follow Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution 2002 edition here on ADBB. According to that book, the vegetables are a total of 3 cups daily: either 3 cups from the "salad" list OR 2 cups from the salad list and 2 cup from the "other list". Beans, asparagus, broccoli are all "other list" vegetables and are limited to 1 cup daily according to the book we follow on ADBB.

By the way, the book we follow on ADBB says that "most" of our daily net carbs are to be from veggies, not all 20 net carbs are required to be from vegetables. Afterall, foods like eggs, cheese (which Dr. Atkins says to count as 1 net carb per ounce according to the book we follow on ADBB), cream, salad dressings/condiments and sweeteners have carbs and if you eat those foods those carbs must be counted towards your daily limit of 20.

Megs, do more recent books say that one is to eat all 20 net carbs from vegetables?

I'd limit tomatos before other veggies and you need to subract the fiber...also 5 carbs over is not such a big deal....its not like you ate a cake or something. Maybe not make a habit of it but still I stand by 5 is not worth worrying too much.

                            GoodLUCK!
