I've noticed that little mental preparation helps to keep up my motivation with this WOE.
1. Breakfast.
Breakfast is so important on this diet! I keep a small non-stick frying pan on my stove so the meal is already partially started in my mind. I don't know why opening the cupboard and getting the pan out requires monumental energy, it just does. I can eat eggs everyday but I tend to skip out if that pan isn't on the stove. It took some getting used to, as we are so inclined to have non-practical kitchens where everything is put away! I also picked up a Nordic Ware bacon cooker with cover and keep bacon in the fridge ready to go. I can make eggs and bacon, or eggs and a M-I-M in less than six minutes. That's less time than one slam of the snooze button!
2. Mr. Foreman
I put a single-serving size George Foreman grill on my countertop on a semi-permanent basis. Being right out in the open it's so easy to open up the freezer and grab a burger patty or a piece of thin-sliced chicken to throw on it. I use it several times per week. I cook with informercial speed, slicing up or nuking my veggies as my meat cooks. I am five minutes away from a hot, satisfying and nutritious meal. I am considering putting frozen veggies I love in individual rubbermaid containers in the freezer so that it's literally a grab and heat process. (I know I can't be the only one who opens the freezer door, sees the bag of frozen green beans and thinks that it's just too much work.)
3. Recipes
When I find a recipe that I would like to make, I put a copy of it on my counter. This way, I don't forget that there was something I'd wanted to make or try.
What little things do you do to keep this WOE simple?
