  • Well I am back, Round 2 of atkins

I actually didn't have this forum when i first did atkins 3 years ago.

this may be familiar to some of you. i was 310 pounds, 6'2" male, large natural physique, but at 310 just plain FAT.

in 4 months or so of STRICT atkins (almost induction the whole time) and excercise i was 245, 20lbs away from my goal

    i celebrated

and it never stopped till i was back to 300, where i am now. took a couple of years to put it all back on but it is amazing how out of control it got again

i have a young son now and want to be around for his graduation

    i am starting again.

300lbs now, goal is 225, have made a commitment to excercise everyday by brisk walking with my son in a stroller for 45 min +.

my biggest fear is getting to 225 and re gaining again. on atkins the weight literally falls off, till about 250 or so, then it starts to plateu and i change it up some and then it seems to start again but SLOWWWW

not sure if it will this time, i have heard the second or thrid time on atkins is much harder and it does not work as well, i will see i guess.

also for me, lunches are the hardest, i try to pack but what the **** do you pack? i used to take chicken breats and some cheese but i hate chicken breasts as they are to dry for me. hate salad too

and i go to work so there is no cooking?? any help with packed lunches would be great, that always messed me up. i used to go out and get wings everyday, but i can't do that again.

anyway, glad this forum is here, very nervous about doing this again

other good news besides it working was my cholesterol dropped 100 points and my blood pressure was normal again

**** of a sex drive to wife was happy

i am looking around the forum for recipes (got REALLY sick of eggs, chees, and meat)

thanks for being here, i start monday

Hey, I'll hang around to help you get back on the wagon! I can get you some great easy recipes. Do you have a fridge at work where you can keep your lunch?

We all need support to keep us going. The exercise will be good for you. I have had a hard time keeping an exercise buddy myself! Even my dog broke his leg and couldn't walk with me anymore! (he's fine now but still can't go for walks)

Don't worry; we're here to help you.

so this time perhaps move on into OWL and add the different food groups in the correct order while finding your CCLL so when you reach goal you can continue eating at maintenance levels to stay at your goal weight without needing to 'diet'.

Why not get a bag of chicken wings or legs or thighs with the skin on and cook them all up then portion them for packing? There are many recipes for rubs to spice them up or you can just sprinkle some spices over them and ovenroast a batch.
I find that these are tastier than plain old skinless chicken breasts and with the skin are not dry at all.
As for salad - is it lettuce you hate or all on the 2-cup and 1-cup list?
In case you havent looked at the lists lately here are the 2-3 cup Vegetables
alfalfa sprouts, daikon, mushrooms, arugula, endive, parsley, bok choy, escarole, peppers, celery, fennel, radicchio, chicory, jicama, radishes, chives, lettuce, romaine lettuce, cucumber, moche, sorrel
        One-cup Vegetables
artichoke, celery root, pumpkin, artichoke hearts, rhubarb, asparagus, chard, sauerkraut, bamboo shoots, collard greens, scallions, dandelion, snow peas, bean sprouts, dandelion greens, spaghetti squash, beet greens, eggplant, spinach, broccoli, hearts of palm, string or wax beans, broccoli, rabe, kale, summer squash, brussel sprouts, kohlrabi, tomatoes, bean sprouts, leeks, turnips, cabbage, okra, water chestnuts, cauliflower, onion, zucchini
A container with a chopped assortment of these and some non-sugar dressing would go well with a few spicy chicken thighs!

So plan your packed lunches for variety and taste so each one is a treat and you won't get bored with them.
Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

                Hi all

thanks for the support and help

i have been browsing some recipes and other idea's for thos lunches

yes i do have a fridge here at work

sorry if that first post sounded a little negative, i was/am just disgusted that i let myself fall like that and have to start again.

i def need to do indcution for maybe 1-2 months, ic an do that and do really well, then i DEF need to go to OWL or add some good, complex carbs back. by that time i am SICK of eggs, meat, and cheese

                so

by the way the chicken is a great idea, i realize this time i will have to cook alot more and really prepare each week.

atkins is hardest when you are not prepared and you are hungry. that can be a disaster.

also today is day 1 for me, so far so good

                brfst

                2 eggs
1 piece of cheese added to eggs - scrambled
20 oz H20 - on my way to 80 or more a day
3 pieces of sausage - o carbs, no nitrates.
                multi vitamin

see i still remember this stuff

                lunch is packed and ready

                nice helping of ham
YES a side salad with chees, eggs, real bacoin bits, ranch dresing
small cup of spniach with butter

dinner will probably be plain chicken wings and something else, not sure yet

anyway thanks for the feedback, this site was unknown to me 3 years ago and would have def helped as i was free falling int carb land again, after getting within 20 lbs of my goal :anger

                not this time!

Try to spread your veggies out throughout the day. I like to have jicama in the morning, salad for lunch and green beans for dinner. Or something along those lines. If you add them throughout the day you don't risk a blood sugar spike. Also try to get some variety in there, it will help keep you from being bored as well as giving your body much needed nutrients.

Glad you're hanging in there! I had a no-no carby dinner last night and I'm starting induction with a group of girls today. I'm going to keep the carbs REALLY low for the first few days and then add a few veggies back in.

Keep cooking and planning those meals in advance. I always keep some hamburger patties or chicken prepped for emergencies. And I like to keep some deviled eggs in the fridge for after work. Yum!
