  • I hate holiday photos

Here I was, skipping along. Not losing much weight, but fitting into things I had outgrown, feeling fairly okay about myself.

Then, WHAM! Mother's Day get-together with requisite family photos.
Mother in law, mother and sister-in-all are all so SMALL compared with me. And they used to be my size or I used to be their size.

I SO don't think I look like that!

This is a very frustrating Monday morning.

I hate photos of myself in general.. thin or fat.. I'm just NOT photogenic... I have a sis that CANNOT take a bad picture... she's a big girl.. but her face is always beautiful in pics....

I always have eyes closed.. my neck is nowhere to be seen... I have 3 chins... it's ugly.. uglier than normal.. lol

        Re: I hate holiday photos

ConnieC funnuy u wrote that just now cuz that was the EXACT same thing ive had on my mind the entire day!
my in laws were over for dinner last night & i was self conscious throughout the event cuz i was the biggest amongst all both my sisters in law are ultra thin (they'd look good even wearing tattered rags with their petite frames & tiny figures!!) and my mother in law is a size smaller than i am......and she blatantly makes it a point to mention that to me & my husband every single time v meet!! & that pretty much ruins the entire evening for me.....without fail!
im doing alrite on my own wen im not socializing but i guess this isn't the way to go...i'd have to meet people smaller/thinner/sexier/leaner/fitter than i am & i just have to accept that i guess......and certainly hope to b able to look like that some day....
slow & steady wins the race i guess
don't b frustrated connie, we too shall have our time very very soon...
        for now,happy low-carbing!!

My sister just took my picture while we were at a theme park on Friday. I just looked like boobs with a head.

Turn that frustration into positive energy! Use it to power your Atkins---sticking to the diet and sticking to your exercise program. The absolutely worst thing you can do is to let that negative energy discourage your efforts to make yourself healthy.

And whenever you get that negativity, turn it positive. If you keep doing that, then like JulieB said, wait til next years' photo and you'll see what you've accomplished!

The fact that you ARE fitting into smaller clothing means you ARE accomplishing something good. So don't let those silly pictures get you down.

Stick with it and reach your goal.

Tape a copy of the photo where you see it every day and use it as motivation.

About a year ago I was tagged on facebook - now prior to that, I was content to just avoid mirrors and stay behind the camera! It was highly motivating! That's when I started a low-fat diet that didn't work that ultimately led me here.

You can't fix the past - but you can make forward progress today

                  Re: I hate holiday photos

I too had to take some pics on Mother's day and although I was not "pleased" with the size of myself in those photos, the very fact that I got in the photo and didn't wedge myself behind someone else or wear a fake smile, etc., etc. really let me know that I am accomplishing "SOMETHING". It's high time we all put ourselves back into our lives....time that we stop being the ones snapping the camera button and move back to being the subject matter!

I have years of no photos of myself for allowing those feelings to betray me and keep me in a place of "maybe next time"...but this year....I took the pic and guess what??? You did too! So hooray for you!

JulieB is right....next year...you are gonna look back and be glad you took those pics because you will see just how much you have done to enhance the beauty you already possess now! Keep up the good work and we are right here for you!

                  Hugs!

I wasn't pleased with my size in photos when I weighed 115... I always looked bigger or weirder than anyone around me..

                      Re: I hate holiday photos

You know, I thought I wasn't that fat and I didn't look that bad, until my sister in law took a picture of me, and showed it to me, and I about wanted to die. So now I take pictures of myself and put it on the refrigerator. I love looking at the progress. I have one when I first started, then at 38 pounds lost, and then at 67 pound lost and so on. I know all weird numbers, but it's very motivating to see your progress. So don't let it give you a crappy day...turn it into a positive.
