  • Inches versus Pounds

Would someone please tell me why or how I can be losing inches and very few pounds?

Maybe I measured wrong the first time? LOL

I have lost 6 pounds.. well 3 now cuz I cheated when it was so low! I have lost 15 inches all over... only 2 of those are off waist.. ARGH!

Anyone have the same issue? Help!

    Re: Inches versus Pounds

I don't know the science behind it but I too lose inches before pounds. I have posted twice in the last month about scales lying!

I believe there are stickies to read and one is..."Why scales lie." I would look it up and it should explain to you what the science is.

It took me months struggling with the scale and getting angry and crying when it didn't show me the number I thought I should of had. Now I am 4 lbs heavier than where I want to be but all my old clothes fit (they fit me 3 years ago at 125 lbs- 129 lbs). I learned to care more about the way my clothes fit then what the scale says. I would like to get to 129, just because but it won't be the end of the world if I stay at 130 and can fit into the smaller clothes.

You may end up heavier than you expected but with a rockin' bod!!!!

        Re: Inches versus Pounds

i could never give it up, i even tried a no weight challenge and couldnt succeed. you will see it as a tool but please don't obsess over it. you will see yourself shrinking and remember no one else knows how much you weigh (unless you tell them). people don't think i look what i weigh if i tell them.

i think everyone here losses inches before lbs. it will catch up, just not immediatly.

        best wishes!!!!!

            Re: Inches versus Pounds

Try going on line, or better yet, try your local health department, and see if they have a "model" of a pound of body fat (and possibly the companion model, a pond of lean.) Fat is not as dense as meat and bones. so a pound of fat takes up much more space.

Plus, you tend to loose the fat in the opposite order you put it on, so the creases in your butt/leg junction should quickly be identified by a baggier appearance in the seat. You might find the need to tighten your belt, even though you might still wear the same slacks, they should "bulge" differently. Ladies, you may find the need to go buy new bras because your 3D, might turn into a 3C or B. The arms might fit better in your sleeves due to a decrease in the back of the arm "waddles". Or, you might discover that you really only have one chin.

I know, I'm being flippant, but fat just takes up space and in our lives of leisure serves no real importance for times of food shortages.

Forbey you are absolutely right. I actually lost my fat in the arms, butt and first but still waiting to get the rest of the celluite off my thighs! I think I have about 4 more lbs of cellulite on me. Which isn't bad compared to what I had before.

                    Re: Inches versus Pounds

I would love to figure out how to harvest belly fat, render it like they do hog fat, save the cracklins for snacks and use the rest to fry chicken.

That would drastically speed up the weight loss process!

Sorry, it is an unfortuante situation. Guys on Atkins lose the fat, their muscles, don't necessarily grow any bigger, but they show better.

On women, what society has defined as curvaceous and appealing, tends to diminish.

No one said life was fair. But healthier is always better!
