    Retaining Water?

I retain water really bad I can drink any amount of water and retain it. I can stop drinking and have diet pop all day (I know really bad) and I lose all water weight the next day.

I don't use any salt for my food. Stop eating pork rinds and deli meat and pepperoni and I still retain water.

I have had my thyroid check. Nothing wrong there.

Any ideas? I am doing induction.

    hi.

The reason why you lose water when you drink diet soda is the caffeine. Caffeine is a diuretic. However, Atkins is a strong diuretic too. That's why we have to drink water during this diet.

I really think you need to talk to your physician about your water retention if you're retaining water while being on a diuretic diet like Atkins...

Certain vegetables can help you get rid of water, like celery, asparagus, brussle sprouts, cabbage and cucumber.
Maybe that helps to get you over the point of retaining water.

I remember reading something about retaining water... it means (may mean) there are toxins in your body and they keep the water... And this toxin-thing may also happen when you're losing weight, as those toxins are then released from your fat and they get "active" again. Do I make any sense? lol
I think the solution was to keep your diet pure and simple then, like no chemicals, no additives, just whole foods. Plenty of water :confused , exercise, fresh air... And just "wait it out" - the toxins will be released from your body finally.
        Anyone knows more about this?

there are many medical reason why a person retains water and the cure has to match the reason. if you are a sodium retainer then you will need to release the sodium and there are many ways to do that. Check with your doc and see what they say since they know all your med conditions.

In case you make it to the doctor before I do...let us all know what she said because I have the same problem.

I wake up with a reasonably flat stomach, eat a little something and I''m fine, but the minute I begin drinking water my stomach turns into a globe. And it seems the more I drink the worse it gets and I am not a salt eater. I don't like the taste of salty food so I avoid it like the plague. And its only when I drink water.

I had a body wrap on my lower body prior to a wedding....I lost nearly three inches from water weight just around my knees. I'm trying my darndest to drink the required amount of water but, its hard looking at my whole midsection swelling up throughout the day as I drink. And during the TOM...OH MY GOD!!! I look like a beach ball.
