If you have a minute can we speak about nutrition and upping my caloric intake? I am a vegetarian and am not losing any weight on this diet and ready to give up. Am wondering if perhaps vegetarians don't have as much luck. I've met some super people on this board who are very helpful but it seems everything I can't eat on induction is my highest source of calories. Also what are the ramifications of caffiene? I can not drink decaf as it bothers the ulcer I have and while I'm on meds for it whatever it is that they use to decaf it kills my system. I have no gallbladder and don't know if that is part of my problem. I am exercising moderately and am planning to up it but I find that I'm so tired all the time. Any ideas on how I can up my caloric intake w/out causing havoc to my choloesterol and fat intake? Any information you can give me would be greatly appreciated. I'm going to try induction again for two - four weeks. I want to lose 45 lbs total but am hoping to move down 30lbs by August 21. Any information would be helpful and greatly appreciated.

Have you posted your menu to the 'Review my menu' forum for advice and suggestions yet?
Perhaps post a link to your fitday account if you have one?Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

we don't have any medical advisors here.
you have a long topic with many posts about increasing your exercise, increasing your fat intake, and how you can as a vegetarian alter the Atkins induction to include the bocca burgers and other foods Dr Atkins used with his vegetarian patients when he was alive.
You can get a free online account at www.fitday.com to track your foods and see how many carbs you really are eating, how much fat (65% of your cals should be in the form of fat on Atkins), protein (30%) and your carbs under 20 net for induction.
It also has a section that will assit you in figuring out your BMR and AMR and you should be eating your daily cals somewhere between them. Check out our FAQ section of the board at the top for info on why those numbers are important and how to set up your fitday account should you need help

I am an ex-vegan...and the majority of my twenties I spent counting calories and eating grass. Anyways, to make a long story short...still couldn't lose weight, no matter how hard I tried, how little I ate. Atkins actually helped me, specifically by raising my calorie intake and making me jump start my metabolism to the level in reality it should have been. Trust me, I didn't believe this way of eating would work, it was difficult at first, and since you have 'moral' issues with meat, is that all meat, or fish also? If not, eat fish.
Anyways, get used to eating a little more, the calorie thing in my personal opinion is what's keeping you from progressing. Once our bodies think they are starving, the more stubborn they will be when we want to shed those inner thighs.
