  • Protein Source

:wave I use soy protein powder 0 carbs, 0 fat 5 grams protein per tablespoon, 20 calories, and it mixes eaisly with water or in a veggie dish that you are cooking. It has no real taste of its own it takes on the taste of what you put it in.

I bought it a t Ray's in California it is Bob's Red Mill Soy Protein Powder. You can make your own protein drinks with it. This is the site that makes it. http://www.bobsredmill.com/ There is a search tool to find stores near you.

also if your protein is at the recommended 35% of your daily intake then you should be getting more than enough protein and there is no need to supplement it.

The Soy Protein source I recommended is for people that can't eat meat or need to make a protein shake for traveling. The Soy Protein I recommend has 0 no Carbs and 20 calories

        Discovering Soy Foods
        Martha Schueneman, C.C.P.
The most complete vegetable protein, soy is also rich in vitamin E, fiber, calcium, magnesium, lecithin, riboflavin, thiamine, folate, iron and essential fatty acids.

Here’s good news for people doing Atkins who don't want to consume red meat, seafood or poultry with every meal: Soy protein is virtually complete, missing only the essential amino acid methionine. In addition, 25 grams of soy protein a day can help reduce the risk of heart disease by lowering LDL (“bad”) cholesterol levels.1

i just did a month long experiment. i ran out of the protein powder i normally use, so just did the meat and veggies and cheese thing, and my weight loss stalled out for the month. so i went and bought another barrel of the stuff and started having my usual protein shake for breakfast again, and i've dropped a couple pounds already. i think it's soy protein, but i'll have to read the label again. i think my body was liking it better and i was more relaxed when using it. i find it's like shoving food down a clogged pipe to get solid food down my gullet in the morning. so it's easier to drink my breakfast, then have a snack at break time and a big salad and meat at lunchtime. of course when i have days off, my eating pattern changes and i eat different things at different times since i'm not restricted to break times like at work! so no protein shakes for breakfast on the weekends. instead it's usually a cheese/spinach/meat/omlette an hour before i head out to the gym or dojo.

:wave I can do eggs, veggies, cheese with a side of bacon or sausage for breakfast. Sometimes I just can't stand the though of meat for lunch so I make a protein drink with my salad and some cheese. I like to take a protein drink & my water when I go on a long shopping trip so that I won't be tempted to buy a food I don't need. I was very pleased to find the protein powder it was the first time I found it in the Grocery store where I usually shop.

I believe the Soy Protein Isolate is the one that is ok to have during induction. The "Isolate" means they have isolated out just the Protein! :yes
