  • Anyone ever have this??

Ok, I have hypothyroidism and now for the past 3 weeks I have had a feeling of not being able to swallow properly and also my ears feel like they need to pop all the time. My energy has also been dwindling and now I feel really extremely tired I have a headache and also I feel like I could throw up. I have been trying to eat and it's like noting really likes me my caloric intac is very low. Here I am an exercise finatic and I can't seem to get by but moving. just doing anything is so tiring.

Just so you all don't freak out I am seeing my doctor and am in the process of having blood work done. I sue hope it's just my thyroid and not something elese cause that would really be horrible. I don't know if this is a classic low or maybe my thyroid is too high I don't know. Maybe someone eles has been here and can offer me some advice on this.

Sarah, can you drink protein shakes? Anything higher in calories? I fear you are not eating enough for the exercise you've been doing, which can cause serious lack of energy .. you've GOT to give your body the fuel it needs. I know you're not hungry, but you've got to try and at least get your protein in.

Believe me I try to eat I really do and I know my protein is not up there where it should be. You'll be happy to know I get paid tomorrow and I am picking up some whey protein powder so I should be better. Thanks so much for being concerned I really need it right now, makes me feel great about this place. It was funny I was feeling so sluggish yesterday that I think I ate almost everything legal in my house. Usually when my energy is down I want food FUNNY. But for the last few that is the last thing from my mind. Yesterday was the fist days in weeks I have really felt like I wanted to eat. I always do eat though cause I love food but, I know not enough for what I do that's for sure.

I am going to buy a ton of steak and pork and salad and mushrooms tomorrow cause MMM IO'm gunna pig out on the legall veggies and steak LOL>

          Take care

My husband has overactive thyroid. The symptoms he had were tiredness, nervousnes, shaking hands, dizziness, weight gain, sweating. I was beginning to think he was drinking way too much his hands would shake so bad. LOL He had to have surgery when he broke his leg and they did the usual blood tests and told him he needed to see his Dr. about one of the results. When he did he found out he had the overactive thyroid. When the specialist read off all the symptoms we were both shaking our heads to each one because he had them all. And he had gained 20 pounds since he was at the Dr. last which was only 2 months earlier. He had to have the radio active iodine treatment to reduce the thyroid function (not as bad as it sounds just a pill) and now will be on medication for life. Still even now they are constantly adjusting the dosage and he has the same symptoms every time it's off. But when the medication is working he is fine.

I saw your post in the thyroid section about this. so what did the doc say about it? is it your thyroid swelling or something else? Infections of other glands can have that effect on you too and then you got a total body systemic immune system response going on.

He said it wasn't swollen but suspects that because of all the illness my thyroid may be low cause of like you said an immune responce and this is why I can't seem to get over my sickness and I keep getting sick. He said when the thyroid is low which could have been happening for a while that your immune system somewhat shuts down and you get sick. I have also read about this a lot.

I hope to hear back in a couple days probably early next week and I will let you know.

so he suspects you have an infection that is causeing the swelling in your throat and ear caused by your immunesystem being depressed because of your thyroid being low? Is he treating your swallowing difficulty in the mean time with some antibiotics?

Make sure you are getting enough of your veggies by pureeing them as a soup for easy swallowing and watch that protein intake as too much can trigger an allergic reaction when the inmmunysmet is acting up as it will see the proteins as a forgein body. i had that happen with soy for me and now I'm deadly allergic to it. vary your protein sources creamed ckicken egges ground beef in soups all go down easy as do flackey fish.

Honestly it does sound like your thyroid, nothing more. I can tell you not to worry, but you are gonna do that anyway. If you are having trouble with your swallowing and your ears are bothering you, it sounds inflamed or your thyroid levels are too high. Keep us posted, Ill be interested to hear what your blood draw says.

                    Prayers to you:

                    Holly :hug

I amcurious too and will know in a few days hopefully by monday/Tuesday then I can start feeling better.

Take care thanks for all the comments and support I need it..

I am not on Antibiotics I am not in any pain it's like stuff gets stuck like for example my thyroid pill which is small I can't swallow it it gets stuck at the top of my throat so I have to use water now to take it something I never had to do before. It is actually better today and hopefully I am on the mend. My ears are still feeling like I need to pop them constantly but, I am having a bit easier time swallowing. Well nothing is getting stuck so I am happy about that.

                      Thank you all
