If you do Atkins properly, I guarantee that you will not gain weight..

I eat 3 square meals a day, of about 1400-1700 calories. I do not cheat, I'm on the berry rung of owl. I'm rarely hunryr and do not even snack. I have trouble eating enough most of the time, but I make myself eat enough (especially the veggies).

    -----------------------------------------------------

Well Vegetables have very few calories, right? Many many times I have eaten a good-sized plate of mostly veggies and chicken for lunch and dinner (virtually no carbs all day long) and either GAINED weight or stayed where I was. I've done this experiment on myself too many times. Maybe I'm just weird. But the harsh reality is, the only way I lose weight is to cut back my portions. I certainly don't starve myself, though. I just have to be careful.

Someone said that cheating by eating carby foods causes cravings.

Actually, NOT eating these things EVER causes cravings.

That's the FOOD'n your stomach, by the way
It actually takes several days for food to pass through your gut :yikes . Vges and fruit, if eaten alone, go quicker, but measts take quite some time. It's personal of course, but usually you can evaluate a real affect of a certain food on your body - few days after eating it...

            Yup!!

            You can go without it.

I haven't had over 20/25 carbs for over a year now. No normal bread, potatoes, sugar, rice, flour, etc.

And I don't miss it one bit!

            :hug
            :joy

            You can do it!!

I am locking this thread as it is not serving a useful pupose at this time.
I will also be locking the first thread as I believe there is really no more to say on this subject.

Some people can eat more than others once they reach maintainance and even before in pre-maintainance.
We need to learn to listen to our bodies, as you can be sure it will tell you when things are right and when things are wrong.
Some people on maintainance can eat some of those foods that were not legal in the other stages of this way of eating, and others know they can not touch them or it will begin a slide down the slippery slope to becoming unhealthy again.
For those who can eat a higher carb count, taste things made with sugar and processed white four, then okay. For those who can't, we don't.
Best wishes to all on your low carb journey.
