ground flax meal is allowed daily? I also take flax oil capsules twice a day. I love the taste of flax meal and it definately helps keep me regular but I just want to make sure I am not eating too much of it. Right now, I currently take 2 T a day.

actually that is a trick question. During induction if you got constipated you were allowed to use it for constipation releif. Then as part of Dr Atkins recommendation of fiber to avoid constipation you could use it daily as part of your induction too and the amount will depend on how much fiber your body needs to control your bowels. on my long induction I needed 4T a day.
When you get to OWL nuts and seeds it is a seed and you can add much much more on rung 3 up to 5 net carbsto start whick would flax you out for a week.
Just be carefull with your flax as you need lots of fluid to keep that fiber moist in your intestines and noving. And too much of anything isn't good for you. Flax raw also has a compound that can in the human body be treated as a cyinide compound and the Japanese gov banned the sale of it last yr for that reason.

o.k...so I guess what I should ask is..for breakfast every morning I mix together 4 T flax meal, 2 eggs and 2 T butter and cook in microwave. I usually split this up between two days..can I eat it all in one day and be o.k? I also take one (sometimes 2) 1000mg of flax oil capsule every day (I heard it was good for your skin)..is this too much?

If on induction then flax is only allowed to help any constipation problems and you should try one T at first to see if that is enough extra fibre, and up it by a little at a time till your intestines work properly.
If on the nuts/seeds rung of OWL you can add up to 5 net carbs of flax - but make sure you drink extra water as it may clog things up :yikesWondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?
Take a look at the thread from the latest Veggie Challenge to see how others manage it!

I take it you are using Bob's RedMill brand? If so, the carb count on it is off. They round up the fiber grams number. So it does have about 0.7 net carbs per serving.Originally posted by Kloiber154I am not in the induction phase and I am including the nuts rung in my diet. I am at my goal weight and I am just maintaining right now. My flax meal states that it has 4 carbs but 4 grams of fiber..does this cancel the carbs out or do I count it as 4 carbs?
