  • Need brand specific product names...

I've been avoiding some foods because I cannot seem to find a truly zero carb version. I see a lot of recipes on the forum using these products but I can't find the zero carb version. I really need to be aimed directly at the target products & darn near have it handed to me before I would ever find it on my own.

I need very specific brand names of the following items:

1.) bulk sausage. (I was using Jimmy Dean until I realized it had sugars, but I see that brand used a lot in posts).

    2.) pepperoni.

    3.) worchestershire.

    4.) soy sauce.

I am not eating pepperoni's right now due to nitrates, but I would like to have some for a snack eventually. I'd like to use worchestershire in making some dishes (as featured on the recipe forum), and geez everyone seems to be partaking in sausage except me! I really miss sausage.

    Thanks, Jane

Do you have access to any butcher shops? If so, call them and see if they make their own sausage and do they use any sugar products in it or could they grind some pork for you. I found a farmers market that made their own sausage a few times a year and they have had several requests for sausage made without any filler/sugars, so I order some ea time they do it and freeze it. I strictly use it for breakfast meals and I use ground pork (most groceries full service meat depts will grind a hunk of pork for you if they don't sell it in the meat section already) in things like meatloaf/casserole dishes/meatballs and just add my own spices. Its not the same, but close enough. I've only had to get it ground once when they had pork roast or pork butt on sale.

I think it would be very hard to find actual products without sugars listed on the things you have listed. I can only say that for me, I have eaten all those listed and still lost. When you include things like worchestershire sauce and soy sauce in recipes....yes they have carbs, but per serving it doesn't add all that much. The sugar listed is minimal, so the carbs per serving aren't that much.

When eating the sausage, did you still lose? That's pretty much your indicator of how your body reacts to it. I eat bacon, sausage, polish sausage that do have sugar, but low in carbs per serving. I still lost.

If you only eat those things occasionally....I don't think in the grand scheme of things it would hurt much. But that's totally up to you to avoid them.

I'm with Heather. I personally have some sausages that although 0g have some conr syrup solids in them. Monitor after usage; if they cause cravings or weight gain, stop use. It's one of those cases of doing the best you can, and dealing with the consequences. Well, I wouldn't eat these during 14-day Induction. In my case, they have proven a nice addition to the diet.

Wow - all great replies - Thanks!

The first time I did Atkins Induction we avoided sausages & worchestershire but added them in once we got past Induction & did fine. I've just gotten so paranoid now about any and every ingredient that I've shyed away from using a dash of soy sauce here & there or a sprinkle of worchestershire, etc.

I think I will wait until I finish my 2nd round of clean Induction & give those products a try & see if it hambers my weight loss.

Again, thanks so much everyone - I love this board - great advice!
