Wasn't exactly sure if this was the forum to post this...but anywho picked up a book today called "when food is love" by Geneen Roth and haven't been able to put it down! "show hos dieting and emotional eating often become a substitute for intimacy...examines the crucial issues that surround emotional eating: need for control, dependency on melodrama, desire for what is forbidden, and the belief that one wrong move can mean catastrophe...why many people overeat in an attempt to satisfy their emotional hunger, and why weight loss frequently uncovers a new set of problems"...definitely worth picking up/checking out from your libs!

I think that sounds like a very interesting book. I know that in the past I have done my share of "emotional eating". I can see why people equate food with love -- just think of the term "comfort food." Even following the Atkins plan, there are certain foods I consider "comforting."
How many of us have had food equated with love in our childhoods? Just imagine Mom trying to soothe her upset child by offering a treat, or even birthday and other parties and gatherings for that matter...
Food is definitely tied in with feelings. I know in my case, it has been tied in a little too closely. I'm trying to be more conscious of why I eat and what I eat.
