If you have started atkins over and over again- I know, I know. It seems it takes longer each time. But tell me it does work again for those of us who have fallen off a few time and are trying again. I'm at my heaviest weight and I need to lose 35 lbs. I am going to start running again too. That's my second question it seems after I start exercising my weight goes up a couple pounds? Please give me any of your advice!

Don't forget that muscle weighs more than fat, so perhaps that's why you see a slight change in the scale.
Keep in mind though, that this is only temporary. When your body acclimates itself to a regular workout routine, it will resolve itself to the muscles burning the fat so that your scale heads downhill.
Also, I can't stress enough the importance of mega-amounts of water. The water will aid in flushing that fat that you're burning, I'm telling you it makes a world of difference in weight loss. Drink 64oz. minimum, and then 8oz. for every 25# that you want to lose. For you, that would be a total minimum per day of about 80oz. of water per day.
I'm not a 're-starter', sorry I can't help you there, but the two most important issues that I've found for success other than following this WOE to begin with are the exercise and the water. They go hand-in-hand.
Good luck, you can do this! :hug

Depending on the amount of glycogen your body has stored, it can take 2-3 days for you to get back into ketosis.~Megs~

the exercise increase is normal for all new to exercise persons as their muscle will super hydrate from that new load being placed on them. the will release the fluids when they see that this new to them load is now the normal for them load. Happy low carbing.by the book atkinseer

yeah, 3 days to get back in ketosis.
as for exercise, there is no question you WILL lose fat if you burn more calories during the day than you are putting in your body.
This means, as long as you are eating right, exercise will only help you because you will be burning a few hundred more calories that day.
Don't worry about any initial weight gain. Although muscle does weigh more than fat, it sounds like your weight is INITIALLY increasing. That means it is not because you are getting more muscular, and I bet it is the water retention.
Either way, keep with it and i bet within a week or two you will start dropping.
By the way, you should be exercising 4-6 days per week to maximize your fat loss.

Sorry guys, Muscle DOES NOT weigh more then Fat ~ Muscle just takes up less space.
Muscle is 22% more dense then Fat is.
Remember in school that old saying teacher's taught us:
1 pound of feathers weighs exactly the same as 1 pound of lead
Think if that as Fat/Muscle:1 lb feathers take up alot more space then will 1 lb of lead but both weigh the same~

One of our members used to have this picture as her avatar comparing the same weight of fat and muscle.

You said so yourself, muscle is more dense than fat, and takes up less space, but if we took the same amount of space for muscle and fat, muscle DOES weigh more than fat. It's like saying a fisful of apples weigh more than a fistful of grapes - apples are more dense and therefore weigh more, just like muscles is more dense, therefore it weighs more.30yo F 5'5 (166cm)
