    Newbie, just saying hello

I've been lurking on here for quite a while, and finally got up the courage to join in. :wave

My name is Reeve, and I've been on the Atkins diet for almost a month now, and have lost 20 pounds (well, 19.5 *g*). I had some experience with a low-carb plan a few years ago, though I didn't know at the time that's what it was. I just called it Poverty, and ate a lot of salads and cheap vegetables and frozen chicken breasts. I was dumbfounded to realize that, though I was not eating 'low fat', I was LOSING fat. Imagine my surprise!

Once I settled down into the life of a normal person with a salary, I went back to old eating habits, and over the course of 4 years have gained 50 pounds! :yikes

I found the DANDR at a book sale early last month, and read it cover to cover, and decided to give it a shot. Frankly, this WOE is the only thing that makes sense to me. Funny how people react when you tell them you're on Atkins, though. Countless well-meaning co-workers and family have all given me their uncensored opinions about the terrible nose-dive my body is going to take. Meanwhile, they reach for another bagel with cream cheese, and I munch on cherry tomatoes and some lean turkey breast. I don't know why they can't see the difference.

Anyway, it's great to be here! Thanks for having me.

With some fullfat dressing to keep your fat/protein/carb ratios correct I hope! hehehehe

Wondering how to get 'most' of your net carbs from your induction veggies?

Oh, absolutely. I tell people the real reason I first decided to try Atkins was that the idea of low-fat salad dressing made me want to die. You will pry my full-fat Ceasar and Ranch dressings from my cold dead hands before I give it up. Hee! :nod
