  • Licking the butter?!!

So i'm having a hard time getting enough fat into my diet. The protein's fine and the carbs are counted and restricted, but aside from licking the block of butter it's being hard to get the appropriate percentage. usually I'm looking at between 50-55% fat most days if not lower. We just don't have much for fat in the house ecept cream cheese, whipping cream and butter and full fat mayonaise. Are there any other fat-rich foods that are relatively low in carbs you guys know that I can incorporate to give my fat intake percentages a boost into the right range?

i'm still shrinking in my measurements and slowly the scale is coming down. I've been switching up alot with my exercise and am now going to aikido *and* kickboxing so I'm going through quite an adjustment with my exercise. my body is clinging to water after a workout for about 3-4 days at a time. I think once I'm used to the new intensity and movements in the exercise the water retention should even itself out. I want to give the scale a kickstart again, and I think my calories have been a bit on the low side in the fat department.

    Go ahead.

    Lick the butter.

    :joy

ETA: You can add extra butter to things such as stir-fry. I always forgot to add in the fat I used for cooking things and it changed the fat contecnt of my diet overall.

Bacon is really high in fat as well as sausages. just adding butter to things I would not normally do has also pushed my fat percetages up.

Hmm, what do you put on your salads? How about olive oil and vinegar or Blue Cheese dressing to up the fat. Eat some pork rinds for a snack. Cheese. Chicken with the skin on.

I had great success and i followed Atkins for induction.

Cheeseburgers for lunch and/or dinner, eggs and bacon or sausage for breakfast and pepperoni for snacks.

This stuff is loaded with fat. i would not be so focused on the fat if i were you.

Instead focus on the carbs first and calories second.

The reason Atkins works is because you eat so much fat that your body feels full quicker and you tend to (unknowingly) eat less calories. THAT is why fat is needed on this program. As long as you are losing weight and don't have cravings, it sounds like you are doing fine and probably shouldn't change anything.

okay just a question but how can the proteins and carbs be fine if the fatys are just 55% something is making up the missing 5-10%

Try eating fatter cuts of meat poultry or fish. remember too it doesn't take a lot of fat at about 100 cals a T to alter your ratios.

              Happy low carbing.

The cuts of meat in our stores around here have been *really* lean of late, and wow is it hard to find chicken in bulk boxes with the skin still on! It doesn't help that I have been forgetting half the time to add some butter to my frying pan when cooking things up.

You are also allowed 1/2 of an avacado daily if you like them. They have a lot of fat and are delicious. I like them chopped up in my salad or just sliced with a dash of lemon and salt and pepper.

I tried peanuts and walnuts, and both seemed to make me stall (peanuts) or give me a stomach ache (walnuts), so for now I cut them out again.
